Sylvanside Farm was established in 1774 by 24 year old William Gregg who built the beautiful Quaker stone barn now available to host your wedding celebration. Our vision is to hold a very limited number of private weddings designed specifically for your needs. Sylvanside is really more of a small village than a farm and our visitors frequently tell us that it has an old world charm that reminds them of the European countryside. We have TWO barns at Sylvanside and you are welcome to use one or both depending on your requirements. The 244 year old Stone barn accommodates 125 comfortably seated and is adjacent to a beautiful pond and grassy knoll with a pine forested background. There is also a second long wooden barn, we call the Poplar barn, that is just down the lane. It backs to a lovely 200 year old white sycamore and in summer a tall corn field. The Poplar Barn accommodates up to 400 people, providing an indoor option for ceremonies in the event of inclement weather or for larger guest lists. You might have your ceremony on the lawn next to the pond, have your guests enjoy a cocktail reception in the Stone Barn with the Clydesdales or enjoy lawn games while you have photographs. The bride and groom have the option of departing by helicopter to the airport to launch the honeymoon or they can stay the night in the romantic Bridal Cottage while any out of town guests enjoy the Cottage (sleeps 8). You might opt to have the rehearsal dinner here as well and even use the Manor house kitchen to prepare it or have a Barbeque prepared for you on the lawn. There are lots and lots of options for ceremony and dinner setups including the front gardens lined by ancient apple trees, the grassy lawn by the pond, either of the two barns or the small formal English Garden--all are within easy walking distance of one another over fairly flat terrain. In addition, we have a one bedroom cottage that is suitable for the celebrating couple, and a three bedroom three bath cottage. All are within easy walking distance of the barns, the main house and each other. We offer weekend wedding packages that include the private use of the entire farm and guest houses and smaller packages that include one day only events. All packages include wooden farm tables for gifts, the grand foyer table for cake and catering, upscale portable restrooms with air conditioning, use of our many farm "props" and furniture (silk couches) for lounge staging, photo opportunities with our Clydesdales and other farm animals, lawn games, fire-pit, loan of silver and china, and more. We encourage you to come and experience the farm and barns in person because everyone agrees the photographs don't begin to do it justice. Sylvanside Farm is conveniently located 2 miles from the town of Purcellville, 34 miles to Dulles Airport and 50 miles to Washington DC. We are 15 minutes from Middleburg and close to many vineyards, local breweries and distilleries.
