Nestled in beautiful Ijamsville, Maryland, Glen Ellen Farm is a historic wedding venue with plenty of rural charm. This outdoor setting is tucked away among 30 acres of rolling hills and meadows watered by streams. The current owner of this storied property invites couples planning their wedding to consider this setting for their milestone celebration.
Facilities and Capacity
This restored Greek Revival property was originally built and owned by John Brown, the civil engineer supervisor of the B&O Railroad's Old Main Line during the 1830s. During the modernization of this line, Brown used discarded wooden rails for joists and rafters in the house's framing. This unique feature went undiscovered for years and is now a treasured part of the venue's history. The name was inspired by this once being the home of Lady Ellen Thompson and the glen it sits in. A couple may wed at the ceremony site near the spring-fed pond and stone springhouse before enjoying a reception at the outdoor tented event space. This area makes good use of the old barn ruin for a rustic ambience.
Services Offered
Glen Ellen Farm hosts wedding ceremonies and receptions as well as engagement parties and wedding showers. The venue staff can provide couples with the use of tables, chairs, and a dance floor for their reception. Tents and other items are also available.

truly a hidden gem
A Perfect Location for a Perfect Day!
They were a delight to work with every step of the way. My daughter was planning the wedding from out of state and Debbie spent extra time with me/her doing walkthroughs and FaceTime meetings and was also always responsive to my many email questions.
I knew the location was perfect the moment I stepped foot on the grounds- even though it was winter and there was no tent, no flowers, etc.! But you could just feel it- and you could imagine it with the way Debbie walked you through it all and described it. And it turned out to be even better than we envisioned it.
So many of our guests told us that they’d never seen such a beautiful wedding location. The photos are absolutely stunning.
Having an outdoor wedding adds extra stress, for sure--- but Debbie was very prepared (with fans, with heaters, with the sides of the tent), even though she continued to reassure us that none of it would be needed... and she was right! The weather was perfect the entire day and we were able to make full use of the grounds.

Debbie was easy to work with and let us come walk through the venue several times between booking and the wedding. She tends the property and keeps it looking fresh and glowing throughout the entire year.
Debbie and team made sure the day ran smoothly and worked seamlessly with our coordinator and other vendors to make our day special. At point point it was sunny and 83 degrees, then overcast, and then slight sprinkles of rain, but throughout the entire day it didn't change a thing and guest were able to enjoy the full venue without any issues.
Despite some concerns for our walker and wheelchair bound guests things seemed to go well. Debbie and team were able to arrange for those guest to be dropped at the bottom of the hill and golf carted them from place to place as needed.
Overall the guest loved the venue and raved about how beautiful the place was. =)
