I had the awesome opportunity of speaking to Marney of Marney Cakes. She has a great passion for making beautiful cakes. She has set high standards for the quality of cakes that she produces. Only the finest natural ingredients will make it to the beautiful creations. Her passion is great, her quality is exceptional, and the taste of her cakes, delectable. The buttercream is far from anything that I have ever tasted. Choosing Marney Cakes will be a great experience all around. |

Wedding Cake Details
Do
you offer private tastings or open house tastings?
Private tastings for wedding cakes are arranged by appointment. There is an up-front fee for this service, which is applied in full as a credit upon placing a wedding cake order. So, once you book your order, the tasting becomes complimentary. |
What
are your tasting hours?
Sunday evenings are reserved for tastings.
|
Describe
how you price your cakes (by slice, by cake, by tier, etc.):
Wedding cakes are priced by the slice, and also by the selection of any specialty ingredients, and the amount of labor involved/design complexity. |
Does
the price include the top-tier of the cake?
The top tier of the wedding cake is complimentary. |
Do
you offer custom cakes, or do you work with pre-designed
styles?
Marneycakes is all about creating beautiful, sumptuous custom-made cakes that are made fresh for your order. |
List any special ingredients you use in your cakes:
Marneycakes contain only the finest all-natural ingredients. We use no artificial colors, flavors, or mixes. Our buttercream is real buttercream from fresh creamery butter, not bakery "decorater's icing buttercream", which is made from vegatable shortening.
|
What
(if any) special dietary restrictions can you accomodate?
Accomodating the need for nut-free cakes is no problem. We also do gluten-free and dairy-free cakes. |
On
average, how many wedding cakes do you do for a weekend?
Bookings are limited to no more than 2 major events per weekend, in order to give each client's order the proper attention.
|
Will
you work with the bride's florist to garnish the cake?
But of course! And I we can also work with the florist to create a cake topper bouquet that coordinate with the bride's bouquet.
|
What
(if any) cake accessories do you rent out?
We happily rent out a variety of cake stands and cake toppers. |
Do
you offer delivery? If yes, how much is your average delivery
fee?
Your delivery fee is calculated based upon distance, and complextity of the cake setup. |
Additional Questions and Answers
HOW TO KNOW IF YOU"RE GETTING REAL BUTTERCREAM, OR VEGETABLE SHORTENING ICING: If a bakery says that you're getting authentic, all-natural buttecream made from scratch, and you're getting a snow-white icing, ask what it's made of. Remember, butter is yellow, not white. If it's white, unless it's merginue, it can't possibly be real butter (and can't possibly be all-natural). It's fondant or decorator's icing (i.e., vegetable shortening) if it's white and it's not butter or meringue.
