great gatsby wedding ideas

You’ve seen Gatsby-themed weddings before, but never like this. Louisiana-based event planner Belinda Belk and her stellar team of vendors collaborated on this jaw-dropping styled shoot filled with the most luxurious details and Art Deco wedding inspiration. A brick warehouse in New Orleans set the scene for the shoot, which is giving us major Great Gatsby vibes. Sequined bridesmaid dresses, feathered headpieces, swanky tablescapes, and a gorgeous floral wall are just a few of our favorite elements from the shoot (but really, we love all of it).

Don’t plan your Gatsby-inspired wedding without seeing these ideas first.

Gatsby style is all about dramatic and eye-catching details, so opt for an onyx engagement ring instead of a traditional diamond style. Engagement rings with colored stones are making a comeback in a big way!

Give your wedding stationery some Art Deco flair with a laser-cut filigree design. Intricate black gatefolds will really pop against a gold background—this style is actually etched metal with a velvet paper jacket. Talk about luxury!

"The inspiration for this shoot began with the space itself: a long, industrial warehouse, which just demanded a long, dramatic table," says Belinda Belk of Blue Gardenia Events. A shimmery black tablecloth was layered with an embroidered gold linen, and gold opera chairs lined both sides of the table.

Dramatic crystal candelabras and tall black tapers brought the wow factor to the tablescape. Ivory floral centerpieces with roses, phalaenopsis orchids and stock softened the overall look.

A wedding lounge area is a great way to get your guests to mix and mingle. The team created this one for the shoot by making a decopauge wallpaper backdrop and piecing together vintage furniture rentals.

Balance out bold décor with flower arrangements and centerpieces that are more on the classic, traditional side. A timeless ivory and green centerpiece will keep the overall aesthetic elegant, not kitschy.

The trick to nailing the mix-and-match bridesmaid look is limiting the color palette to one or two shades, like black and gold. Keep the dress silhouettes simliar too, such as these fitted sleeveless gowns.

There's no such thing as too much sparkle. Finish your 1920s wedding attire with a pair of statement heels (this is the 'Harvey II' style by Badgley Mischka). One word for these: obsessed.
