  Delicious!

  I just love this place. My father-in-law introduced me to Hollin Hall when he bought our wedding cake here back in 2021 for our Covid-era wedding at home. We loved it so much we went back to Hollin Hall for a bigger cake for our post-covid reception with friends and family this past June. We went with our favorite, the black & white mousse cake, and it was a huge hit. Crystal was great to work with, and delivered all the way to our venue in Chevy Chase. Plus, this cake freezes great as long as you wrap it well. When we thawed a piece of our first cake on our anniversary, it tasted exactly the same and instantly brought us back to our wedding day. Thanks, Hollin Hall!

  Amazing. The wedding cake was amazing. It was beautiful and more than that: it was delicious! Everyone kept telling us how delicious the cake was.

  The cakes here are so beautifully crafted to exactly what my husband and I wanted! We're not big cake eaters because traditionally cakes are overwhelmingly sweet. However, Hollin Hall has perfected it's craft. I had people telling me "I don't really like cake, but this is good!" And I agreed. Everyone enjoyed it and I couldn't have found a more perfect pastry shop!!

  The cakes here are so beautifully crafted to exactly what my husband and I wanted! We're not big cake eaters because traditionally cakes are overwhelmingly sweet.   The cake was delicious and beautiful. Exactly what I wanted. They worked with me to ensure I was getting what I wanted, even though I changed my mind a few times along the way. Delivery was perfect. Worth every penny.

  Hands down the BEST tasting cake we've ever had. Not the typical wedding cake - this one is amazing. We even had complements on the fondant - and people usually hate fondant. Set up a meeting with Dolores. She is super sweet! I brought in two cake designs that I liked and they combined them perfectly. The colors were right on and the cake was stunning. We loved it so much that we ate our top layer in the days after the wedding and plan to go back at our 1 year and get a fresh cake instead.

  My fiance and I went to a lot of cake tastings before we decided which pastry shop to go with. I was impressed with Hollin Hall because not only were were able to taste numerous single slices of cake but we could take the leftover cakes home with us.
  The next day I brought the leftover cakes to my work and enjoyed them with the staff. I knew we had made a great choice by choosing Hollin Hall for our wedding cake.

  Wow. I could not be more pleased with our wedding cake from Hollin Hall. Our first meeting/cake tasting was with Mel, one of the owners, so already we felt as though we were getting the royal treatment. As soon as we had our first taste, we knew we had the right place. Mel was very professional and listened to everything we had to say. We didn't have any complicated requests, but I'm sure they could have handled anything we could think of. They even offered to do our groomscake for us!
  
  The groomscake, while delicious and economical, was not as expected, unfortunately. I should have come prepared to that meeting with more pictures and descriptions of what we wanted and what we definitely did NOT want.
  
  But this is a review for our wedding cake, which was PERFECT! Can't wait to eat the top in a year.

  Everyone LOVED our cake. It was beautiful, tasty and the fondant was even yummy! Hollin Hall was the first pastry shop we visited and really set the bar high. When we arrived they gave us a slice of every cake they have to try! We clearly couldn't finish it all and so we took the rest home. We tried two other pasty shops after Hollin Hall (Heidelberg and Alexandria Pastry) and the service and offerings just didn't compare. Not to mention the price was a lot more at those.
  
  When we met with Dolores at Hollin Hall and the owner they suggested we get a 3 tier and a sheet cake to save money (the other places wanted us to get 4 tiers and didn't mention a savings with a sheet cake). The cakes we tried at Hollin Hall were by far the best of the three pastry shops we tried. We ended up with 4 flavors of cake!

We went to Hollin Hall, which was close to our home, and which we knew produced absolutely delicious cakes and pastries. The process could not have been easier: in the span of about 30 minutes we showed them the picture we had, they said they were happy and excited to execute it, and we chose one of our favorite cake flavors: black and white chocolate mousse. The cake they produced was stunning, exactly what we had wanted in appearance, and completely delicious: so much so that our guests went back for seconds and thirds! The cost was very reasonable on a per serving basis, for such a "designer" cake. Moreover, we knew we would have to contract for a larger cake (more servings) than we needed to get the look we wanted and we were happy to do so, but about a month before the wedding, Hollin Hall called and said they had been experimenting and had decided they could produce the look for fewer servings, saving us several hundred dollars! I picked out a difficult Martha Stewart cake years before I met my now husband and Hollin Hall was able to match the color and produce the all important :-) bows that all the other pastry shops said they could not do. The cake tasted incredible as well and they use all natural ingredients with no premade box cakes. We had carrot cake with chunky nuts and carrots that you could see and feel and almond cake with roasted almonds - and are still receiving complements two weeks later!

  Hollin Hall is an outstanding bakery. First, they provide you with full slices of cakes for tasting and all of them are made of butter cream and just wonderful! They also provide you with various pictures of cakes that they had done in the past. I didn't see my cake, but explained what I was looking for and finally gave them a picture a couple of weeks later. At the wedding, they arrived on time and the cake looked better than the picture!!! They also worked closely with my florist to make sure the flowers that were going on the cake were coordinated. The people at Hollin Hall are professional and helpful, the people in the back are true artists and the cakes taste great!! I can't wait to get the top on my anniversary!! The price for the cake was included in Odyssey's wedding package. I didn't have to pay anything additional other than the extra cake I purchased and brought home when we were doing the tasting. Yummm.

  The cake Hollin Hall made for us was wonderful, the best I've ever had at a wedding. It was moist and flavorful inside, and looked beautiful on the outside. They were able to create a design for us from a few pictures I showed them, and they replicated the color I picked exactly.

  The cake was just AMAZING. We had four different flavors all mousse fillings. We had passion fruit w/apricot halves, tiramisu, black and white chocolate mousse and something else but I can?t remember. I provided them with a picture of the cake even though it was in their books due to some problems another bride had (wrong design on her cake). I think the only thing missing from the cake was the monogram, but that was no big deal. We had fondant icing, which the wait staff pulled off of each slice. Guests raved about the cake and they LOVED the tiramisu.

  Our cake looked good, tasted great, and our guests enjoyed it, too, so we were quite satisfied with our decision to get our cake from Hollin Hall. My experience tasting at the shop was very positive - Jessica was friendly and helpful and made a great first impression. I found the shop a bit slow to respond to emails at times (a few days for most exchanges), but overall, every message I sent did get a response, and they were always helpful and friendly. We were happy with our wedding cake and would happily use Hollin Hall for future occasions.

  Hollin Hall Bakery has THE most delicious cakes! While pricey for me, they were an excellent value compared to the others we tested and their reputation for drama free delivery can't be beat. I definitely recommend going in for the tasting. They give you like seven full size pieces of different flavours to taste and each one is more delicious than the next. My Sister, Fiance and I almost fell off our chairs when tasting the white chocolatee mouse and bavarian cream with fruit. They will customize to any shape or size you like and have look books for ideas. I cannot stress enough how tasty the cakes were, just fabulous!
