The venue was beautiful and great!! It is an open courtyard, so you really have a lot of creative flexibility- however the courtyard owner has a lot of rules that you have to follow... You can only have food and beverages from certain companies [which is a limited list], and the DJ you bring in MUST have insurance [so my DJ purchased insurance for that day]. Other than though, the courtyard is beautiful and everything fit into it well [we had around 250 guests].

I am reviewing DJ - John Gillon - who was also unquestionably one of our favorite vendors! He was friendly, played exactly the kind of music we hoped for and didn't steal the show. Literally from the second the "dancing" started until the last song, the dance floor was full. We received compliments for weeks on what a great music selection we had for both dinner music and dancing. Hubby and I did spend quite a bit of time coming up with genre, songs, artists etc. we liked, but John made it all come together and created an exceptional playlist for us. I just wish I would have thought to ask for a full copy of the playlist before it was too far after the wedding! He did a 5 star job.

Herbie was our DJ from Events by Design and he was so much fun to work with! He listened to every idea we had about our music and was able to start a playlist as we sat and talked with him. He showed up on time and looking good! The whole night went very well and he was pretty well organized, even though there were a little mix ups. I would recommend Events by Design for DJ, especially Herbie.

My husband and I hired Events by Design to DJ our wedding. We worked specifically with Scott Zimmerman and had a FANTASTIC time working with him! Unlike other DJ's that some friends have worked with, Scott did a great job of playing almost all of our requests, filling in the "blanks" with songs that he knew we'd love based off of our requests, and completely avoiding anything on our do-not-play list. He could not have been a more nice, professional, or fun DJ to work with. Due to a few other "glitches" (not related to anything to do with Scott or EBD), the wedding/reception were running a bit behind schedule and Scott offered to stay and play a bit beyond his ending time so that the reception could wind down properly.

We'd met with a few other DJs and were feeling a bit skeptical by the time that we met with Scott, but my husband and I really clicked with him and knew that he'd be perfect for our ceremony/reception as soon as we'd talked with him the first time, and we were right. Scott was awesome, and we highly recommend him.

Jessica and Marjeri were exceptional wedding planners...they were sooo great! They took an extreme personal interest in our wedding and it felt like a very personal service, not just another wedding to them. They had the BEST recommendations of vendors to use and I could not be happier with everyone that we worked with thanks to all their suggestions. They were great in the planning of the wedding as well as the day of the wedding. They allowed and helped in having the perfect day come to life. I am forever greatful to them for that beautiful day and I would highly recommend them!
Scott from their company also DJ'd for us and he was great as well.

John and Robin are very helpful, responsive and extremely professional. I would recommend the Rancho Bernardo Courtyard and I would recommend using their services. They were friendly, easily reachable and so helpful with any of our needs.

William was an outstanding DJ! He was very professional yet fun at the same time. We both love music so our DJ was a big vendor for us and he did not disappoint. We met a few times prior to the wedding and liked William from the start. He did not play any of our "do not play" songs and played all of our requests. Best of all--our wedding was a blast and he kept the dance floor packed from start to finish. We had a flow of the way we wanted our songs to go, from the vibe during cocktail hour to dinner to the early part of the night til the end and the end result was exactly as planned. Willaim goes well beyond DJ duties and keeps the reception running smoothly as well. He has a lot of experience and I highly recommend him.

I found Events By Design online. They were quick to respond to my inquiry about the venue - Rancho Bernardo Courtyard. They happily scheduled an appointment that worked best for our availability. They were unlike other vendors who put the pressure on you to make your decision and book them immediately. They are always responsive via phone or email. They provided a lot of guidance from start to finish. There are no hidden costs with them. They are very honest and their prices are reasonable and worth every cent!

We booked our DJ through them as well since he is very experienced and is very familiar with working at the outdoor venue (staying within the limits of the noise ordinance for that area).

Scott Zimmerman was a GREAT DJ! We met with him twice before the wedding and he was great at making sugestions and listening to what we wanted. Scott did our ceremony and reception flawlesly. In the end we heard all the songs we wanted to hear that day and our guests had a great time. Scott was also very professional from start to finish. I was really impressed and would deffinatly recommend him and Events by Design.
