This is how the song should be played - not that guitar version listed above. This is my walking down the aisle song.
I'm going to cry...
I agree.. that guitar crap is bogus!!! I love this one!!
What a beautiful rendition. I love this song. I'm definately going to use it in my Wedding!
this will be my wedding song on June 5 2010 on the Beaches negril jamaica
I walked up the aisle to this song in my wedding 11 years agao. I loved it so much that my bridesmaids did as well, that way when the high part of the song came, I was walking up the aisle, it was simply lovely. I will always cherish it.
This is definitely the song I will walk down the aisle to. I have listened to this version since I was little and always knew that this would be the song I walk to on my wedding day. So classic and perfect!

I've known this would be my song forever too! I'm planning on having my bridesmaids walk up in the beginning of it, so when it reaches the high part (about 2 minutes in) I will be walking up the aisle :)

Too bad the aisle is shorter than the song... ;)
Perfect! Hopefully I can get the timing right!
This song is absolutely perfect. I can't wait to use it on my wedding day! =]
The second I heard our organist play this song I know it had to be the song we all walked up the aisle to! It just captures the essence of the day so beautifully!

me to 11-11-11!!!
I agree! I knew this was the song as a littel girl when I saw Father of the Bride with my daddy!
Definately the Song for my Girls to walk down the aisle to... it is SO beautiful and classic!!!
We love it. This is our song! 11-11-11
I Like the emotions that this song evokes for me... a true front contender for my 11-11-11 wedding.
The first Christmas my fiance and I spent together, I heard this song played as a Christmas carol. The only thing I could see in my mind was myself walking down the aisle to John with this song playing. 4 Christmases later, we are engaged and planning our wedding for July 21, 2012. This will be the song I walk to... The only thing I think of when I hear it is him and I, and our love story. It's a beautiful song, and I cry every time I hear it.
Most beautiful song I have ever heard in my life......
this song is absolutely breathtaking =) this might be the song that I walk down the aisle to
Gorgeous!
I remember playing this in highschool band and i always loved it one of my fav's. I will walk down the aisle to this song. It brings back alot of memories for me.
It is a beautiful song, I totally agree. PLEASE DON'T use it for your wedding as it was written for funerals!! I know no one wants to start out with hanging over your head. Its bad luck.
Listen to to pieces written by G. F. Handel. I used one of his pieces and I've been married 25 years! I'm not really one of those kooky "break a mirroe, seven 7 bad luck" or anything but Canon in D was written for funerary music.....Just sayin'.
Good luck to all of you!
Angela Hogan Notary/Wedding Officiant
Oh, my Lord! I made so many typos, I did actually come off as a kook! What I meant to say was that now you know the piece was written for funerals, it might dampen the day. You know the old saying, "Break a mirroR, 7 years bad luck will follow." I don't happen to subscribe to that one myself but please, ladies, listen to some pieces written by G.F.Handel. He was a brilliant composer without all the "fanfare." I walked down the aisle to one of his pieces 25 years ago and we're still married. Yes, to the same person! You'd be shocked at how many people ask me if I've been married to the same person for 25 years! My middle daughter has her Masters in Classical Music, so whether we like it or not, we are quite frequently"educated" on composers and what songs they wrote and for whom. Sorry, I just nodded off. Anyway, please don't use Canon in D as it was really and truly written as a funerary piece. Check out Handel, totally underrated and more talented, in my daughter's opinion, anyway!!
This is very beautiful. But, it IS too somber to used on what is supposed to be the happiest day of your life.
I don't find it somber or a "funeral piece" at all. If in fact that was the inspiration, makes no difference to me. I love it and will definitely be walking down the aisle to it!!
I will be walking down the ailse to this, never heard of it being made for funerals and its a truly amazing song, cant wait!!!
I am going to use mostly classical instrumental songs for my wedding....this one just got added to my list. :)
I added this to my binder, always thought this music was most beautiful to walk down the isle to.
Canon in D was not written for a funeral. In fact, it is largely unknown as to what type of occasion it was written for. Defiantly not a funeral, though. However, I will say, music's meaning is almost wholly dependent on the listener and how they intemperate them. So I believe it is up to the person listening to this piece that will allow them to feel when it is appropriate to use. I will be using this as my processional song at my wedding next year. :)
I never heard this song played more beautifully than this post. The crescendos are outstanding. Very moving.
I love this song. I think i'm going to let the flowers girls walk down the aisle to it.
my bridal party will walk down to this i love this song!! tears....
im going to start this song as the partents are being sat, then the flower girl, brides maids...and most important...me. I have always loved this song and cant wait til my big day. 10-13-12
I remember when I was a little girl I said this would be the song I would play at my wedding
This is what I'm walking down the isle too!!!!!!
Love it!.....This is the one 10-19-12 :)
I never dreamed of my wedding any certain way like most girls do, but as soon I heard this it ave me chills & memories of watching FAther of the Bride growing up. Love love love. This will be my down te aisle song 8/3/13.
Love it! So perfect and fitting
I have wanted this song played at my wedding since I can remember, We are being married in a very old church with a pipe organ which has the most beautiful sound, I am so excited to walk down the isle. :)
We are getting married Oct. 27, 2012 on a Carnival Cruise Ship in Florida and yes this is the song I am walking down the ai
aisle too! Simply breathtakingly gorgeous!!!
I am looking for this exact version. There are so many Canon Ds that I can't find this exact one. Does anyone know what orchestra played this version?
Love this one too... so many choices. will be married 9/14/12 :)
As a music major I can't stand this piece! It's so overused and boring that every other music major makes fun of it! Pick something with intensity and meaning instead of a chordal warm up tune. Sorry Pachelbel.
I agree, Lauren. Cannon is the most annoying song. It's not Pachelbel's fault. It's that EVERYBODY uses this song. Be unique. No Cannon.
Lauren or Tanise, do you have any suggestions for something similar?
I LOVE THIS SONG ESPECIALLY SINCE I CAN PLAY IT ON MY VIOLIN!
Love it want it official for walking down the Isle!!!!
We had a string trio play this for the bridemaids processional and then the piano joined in for my processional. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!
Love, love, love this version. I will be walking down the aisle with my Dad to this song.
I've loved this song since the first time I seen Father of the Bride..the brides mains, flower girls and myself will walk down the isle to it
Amazing song. This was one of my favorite pieces to play on my violin. Love it!!!!!!
