  Beautiful birch tree cake

  Absolutely loved our birch tree wedding cake with custom woodpecker toppers! Thank you so much! Exactly what we wanted, and the designer hand carved the woodpecker toppers from clay as a request from my husband who loves birds. Now we display them on a shelf as a keepsake!

  A sweet treat for the big day

  We went with the Bankery for our Madison, ME wedding this past October. They were super friendly and helpful throughout the process with plenty of samples so we could get our flavors decided on! We ended up getting a small two layer cake for ourselves with a classic white cake/white frosting with triple Berry filling and then pumpkin/cream cheese and chocolate/PB with raspberry filling cupcakes... Let me tell you... Everything was SO GOOD. The Bankery delivered (early even) and set the cakes up for us so all we had to do was eat it! Thank you Bankery for such an amazing cake experience!!

  The cake was AMAZING everything we wanted and more. The cake tasting was also the best one we had and we went to 6 other places. They did and amazing job with the cake presentation and flavor. It was a little expensive but totally worth it.

  We did a small cake from here and did pies for the majority of our dessert. But our cake was amazing!!! We had it decorated like a birch tree with our initials carved in a heart on the "tree." It seriously looked so good people didn't think they could eat it. They did an amazing job with decorating it. We did an apple spice cake with caramel filling and caramel buttercream frosting and it was delicious! People told us it was the best cake they have every had! The Bankery was also so easy to work with and very responsive!

  We had a blast sampling cakes for the wedding cake and cupcakes. The cake is absolutely fantastic and the staff are more like friends. The cake and cupcakes were displayed beautifully. They moved in and out so smoothly we barely knew they'd arrived. Our daughter's friends have since used The Bankery for their weddings, and we're now enjoying their bread and other foods.

  The Bankery made the cake for our wedding this past June. Not only was the cake delicious, but it was incredibly beautiful! They did the frosting entirely with buttercream because we despise fondant, but that didn't seem to limit their ability to do a beautiful design at all! We were very happy with them from start to finish!

  First of all, the Bankery is gorgeous. Their shop is absolutely adorable. Secondly, their cakes are INCREDIBLE. We had servings for 175 guests, and our wedding had 200 guests in attendance, and we had TONS of cake left over. Their serving sizes are enormous for the price. I brought a picture of a cake in with me, and it was very whimsical. I asked their recommendation on flavors, and what would remain the most moist during the wedding. They suggested blueberry swirl & raspberry swirl. The cake was three tiers. With the bottom tier having three layers, chocolate, vanilla and chocolate. They placed a raspberry cream filling in between each layer. The second tier was raspberry swirl and had two layers with buttercream frosting between the layers. And the top layer, was blueberry swirl with buttercream frosting in between the two layers. The frosting was buttercream crumb coat and white chocolate fondant. They also made red velvet cupcakes and white and chocolate cupcakes. The cake was DELICIOUS. And all of our guests complimented the design, flavor and moistness of the cake. They were awesome to deal with and I would recommend them to anyone.

We hired them for the flowers and cake for our wedding, and I was blown away by the service and quality we got. We knew the general feel that we wanted from our decor, but we didn't have a clear plan for how to achieve that. When we sat down and talked with the Bankery, we gave them an idea of what we wanted to get out of the cakes and flowers, and they put together beautiful pieces that were well deserving of being the core of our wedding decor. We ended up with separate cakes for each table with as assortment of different art deco designs to go with our film and screen theme, and bouquets of flowers that were somehow both classic and unique. They even made me a flourless chocolate torte, so I could have my wedding day cake without getting sick (I have Celiac). They were a delight to work with, we got amazingly beautiful (and delicious!) pieces, and the prices were very reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone who needs bakery or florist services in the mid-Maine area.

  We had a small cutting cake made here for our wedding. It was vegan (we requested that, they have other options) and so delicious! I asked for a pretty specific design and flower colors and they did such an excellent job, I couldn't be more pleased! I wish I lived closer so we could try some of their other baked goods!

  Fantastic taste and quality! They were great to deal with throughout the process and were flexible to find a cake and design that fit both our wants, needs and what we could afford. The flavors were delicious and they delivered what we were looking for. They also made our cake topper letter M and it was beautiful! Definitely recommend!

  Our wedding cake from The Bankery was great. We had such a fun time at our tasting and completely loved our final cake. The flavors were so wonderful that even though we opted for very simple decoration (smooth icing with a few flowers on top), it was like a work of art!

  Final product was great, after some adjustment

  I contacted The Bankery for a wedding cake/dessert quote six months before my wedding and they were prompt in responding and prepared a quick, professional quote. Since I was also using their florist, they provided a package deal with only one delivery fee but did not offer a military discount upon our request. A few months later my fiance and I made a detour through Skowhegan (which is in the middle of nowhere in Maine) while headed to our venue in the Western part of Maine for other wedding business, and stopped at the Bankery for our tasting. The tasting cakes had been packaged to-go and handed to us-- we were not invited to sit and try them on-site or give feedback etc., just sort of "Here you go... enjoy, bye!" which we thought was a little strange (especially since we came from out-of-state) but figured we would save them to have as dessert after our catering tasting later that night. We had ordered a lemon cake with coconut frosting and a maple spice cake with espresso ganache filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. Simply put, the tasting cakes were generic and disappointing, the flavors understated, and one of them was the wrong kind of cake altogether (no maple spice, just a plain cake). We debated canceling our order and finding a new vendor, but figured we would see if they could fix the problems and didn't want to increase our spending since we were committed for floral here as well. Matt was apologetic when we spoke by phone, and offered another tasting free of charge, but since we were out of state it would be another month before we could come back to Maine and had to do so on a holiday weekend just a month prior to our wedding date. The second tasting went more as I had imagined -- Matt was present to greet us, invited us to sit and have coffee or tea, and gave us time/space to taste the cakes but was attentive to ask for feedback. We still wanted more flavor, and had already made some modifications from the first go- round (the vanilla buttercream was way too sweet so swapped for espresso buttercream, the coconut was lacking the coconut flakes and tasted like vanilla so swapped for lemon buttercream). Matt took notes of our modifications/requests, and even offered us a sample of a stronger espresso buttercream frosting while the baker was there on-site, which was MUCH more what we had in mind. Since we wanted the lemon cake to really taste like lemon, he suggested we add the lemon curd filling, which we did. In the end, the cakes we ordered were different from the two tastings-- we went with two satellite cakes for our dessert table: maple spice cake with espresso ganache filling and extra-strong espresso buttercream frosting (naked) and lemon zest cake with lemon curd filling and lemon buttercream frosting (naked). Both turned out excellent and were delivered to our venue the day before the wedding (along with our DIY flowers) with no problems. We canceled an order for mini whoopie pies because we found them at a fraction of the price more local to our venue. The final cakes tasted (and looked) amazing and our guests commented on how it was some of the best wedding cake they'd ever had since it had so much flavor. I would recommend the Bankery for wedding cake but be sure to insist on tasting, support and modifications on-site to be sure you get what you want!

  I contacted The Bankery for a wedding cake/dessert quote six months before my wedding and they were prompt in responding and prepared a quick, professional quote. Since I was also using their florist, they provided a package deal with only one delivery fee but did not offer a military discount upon our request. A few months later my fiance and I made a detour through Skowhegan (which is in the middle of nowhere in Maine) while headed to our venue in the Western part of Maine for other wedding business, and stopped at the Bankery for our tasting. The tasting cakes had been packaged to-go and handed to us-- we were not invited to sit and try them on-site or give feedback etc., just sort of "Here you go... enjoy, bye!" which we thought was a little strange (especially since we came from out-of-state) but figured we would save them to have as dessert after our catering tasting later that night. We had ordered a lemon cake with coconut frosting and a maple spice cake with espresso ganache filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. Simply put, the tasting cakes were generic and disappointing, the flavors understated, and one of them was the wrong kind of cake altogether (no maple spice, just a plain cake). We debated canceling our order and finding a new vendor, but figured we would see if they could fix the problems and didn't want to increase our spending since we were committed for floral here as well. Matt was apologetic when we spoke by phone, and offered another tasting free of charge, but since we were out of state it would be another month before we could come back to Maine and had to do so on a holiday weekend just a month prior to our wedding date. The second tasting went more as I had imagined -- Matt was present to greet us, invited us to sit and have coffee or tea, and gave us time/space to taste the cakes but was attentive to ask for feedback. We still wanted more flavor, and had already made some modifications from the first go- round (the vanilla buttercream was way too sweet so swapped for espresso buttercream, the coconut was lacking the coconut flakes and tasted like vanilla so swapped for lemon buttercream). Matt took notes of our modifications/requests, and even offered us a sample of a stronger espresso buttercream frosting while the baker was there on-site, which was MUCH more what we had in mind. Since we wanted the lemon cake to really taste like lemon, he suggested we add the lemon curd filling, which we did. In the end, the cakes we ordered were different from the two tastings-- we went with two satellite cakes for our dessert table: maple spice cake with espresso ganache filling and extra-strong espresso buttercream frosting (naked) and lemon zest cake with lemon curd filling and lemon buttercream frosting (naked). Both turned out excellent and were delivered to our venue the day before the wedding (along with our DIY flowers) with no problems. We canceled an order for mini whoopie pies because we found them at a fraction of the price more local to our venue. The final cakes tasted (and looked) amazing and our guests commented on how it was some of the best wedding cake they'd ever had since it had so much flavor. I would recommend the Bankery for wedding cake but be sure to insist on tasting, support and modifications on-site to be sure you get what you want!
