I needed a special cake for a very special occasion: a 100th birthday celebration, with a 79-person guest list! I had no idea where to begin. The owner of Let Them Eat Cake, Gayle Forte, was wonderful to work with. She explained to me the best size and shape of cake I should use for my guest list and occasion. As for what the cake should look like, the only hints I gave her were "The guest of honor likes flowers", and "she likes pinks, yellows, and purples". With so little to go on, Gayle drew us a concept sketch, and once I saw it, I knew it would be perfect. The end result was a stunning work of art, which was completely consumed by the end of the party. Many, many guests commented on how lovely the cake was, and also how delicious. Gayle was absolutely wonderful to work with! We were planning a destination wedding in York Harbor, ME from Maryland and Florida so Gayle was amazing and sent us her tastings and then worked with us to choose the design. The artist in me, fell in love with a painted buttercream cake I found on Pinterest and Gayle took that inspiration and created the most beautiful painted buttercream cake for us. It was everything I dreamed of! The flavors (lemon cake with lemon buttercream and raspberry filling) were delicious and the colors of the painted buttercream flowers matched the colors of our wedding perfectly. Everyone loved the cake and many guests went back for more! I would highly recommend Gayle to anyone having a wedding in Southern Maine, not only was her cake delicious but she was also the sweetest person to work with!
