We worked with Gayle at Let Them Eat Cake for our wedding cake and cupcakes, and she was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. We had a coastal wedding and weren’t entirely sure what we wanted at first, but Gayle helped guide us toward the perfect design and flavors.
She created a stunning and delicious cake and cupcake selection that our guests are still talking about. Everything was beautiful, fresh, and perfectly done.
The wedding cake was exactly what we hoped for, and the cupcakes were just as impressive. We are so grateful to Gayle for her talent, creativity, and care in making our dessert table such a highlight of the day.

Gayle was so amazing to work with! I pretty much started with 0 clue what I wanted and Gayle took the time to discuss my vision and then draw out some sketches for me to look at. She had worked with my florist before and even contacted her to make sure her buttercream flowers matched my centerpieces! More importantly, the cake tasted as good as it looked! Painting Buttercream wedding cake 💕
Gayle was absolutely wonderful to work with! We were planning a destination wedding in York Harbor, ME from Maryland and Florida so Gayle was amazing and sent us her tastings and then worked with us to choose the design. The artist in me, fell in love with a painted buttercream cake I found on Pinterest and Gayle took that inspiration and created the most beautiful painted buttercream cake for us. It was everything I dreamed of! The flavors (lemon cake with lemon buttercream and raspberry filling) were delicious and the colors of the painted buttercream flowers matched the colors of our wedding perfectly. Everyone loved the cake and many guests went back for more! I would highly recommend Gayle to anyone having a wedding in Southern Maine, not only was her cake delicious but she was also the sweetest person to work with!

Incredible 40th Birthday Cake
Gayle was amazing to work with. Another cake maker left me in a lurch a month before a milestone birthday and she jumped right in and worked with me on getting to the right cake for my vision for the evening. She translated a beautiful Liberty print into a 3-D masterpiece with depth... it was just so beautiful.

Perfection!
We are from Kansas and had our wedding on the beach in Kennebunk, Maine. After researching online reviews I came across Let Them Eat Cake and decided to reach out. Gayle was very quick to respond and after a few shared emails, we decided to go with this her company. Boy did she not disappoint! Gayle's cakes are to die for - our guests were all asking for her contact info! Beyond the incredible taste, she was a dream to work with - took my mess of inspiration photos and after a quick phone call and a matter of a couple hours came up with three completely original designs, all so beautiful we wanted to order three cakes. We were referred to Let Them Eat Cake As part of our wedding package at Village by the Sea in Wells, Maine. Gayle was easy to work with and talk with on the phone. The process went well and I was able to set up phone meetings and send emails in order to go over ideas which made it easy to work with her while I was working California and being behind 3 hrs from her in New England. She sent me all the information I needed in a email and my fiancé and I were able to talk over the options with her and let her know what we wanted for our cake. She sent over 3 different sketches of her ideas for the cake and we choose one then she sent us a cake tasting and we choose our cake flavor and frosting. The cake came out beautiful and it was yummy!

The most delicious cupcakes!
We had decided that we didn't want a traditional wedding cake, so Gayle worked with us to create cupcakes that were both delicious and visually stunning. She used my bouquet as inspiration for the cupcake design and blew us away. We also appreciated the chance to taste a variety of flavors prior to deciding on which ones we would serve at our wedding. Oh my goodness, I wish I could give Gayle a ten star review. She is amazing, and her cake is INCREDIBLE. She did a two tier cake for us with fresh flowers, a large reception kitchen sheet cake of a different flavor and a rehearsal dinner cake. She delivered the cake and provided a box for us to save the top tier.
I can’t tell you how many rave reviews I got about the cake. From “this is the best cake I’ve ever had,” to “I don’t even like cake and this is delish,” everyone LOVED it. We did red velvet, gold with raspberry and spice cake with maple buttercream.
Gayle was so easy to work with, attentive, thoughtful and trustworthy. She spoke with me multiple times on the phone to answer the (many) questions I had. She is so sweet and kind, and creates one heck of a delicious and beautiful cake. I cannot recommend her enough. The Best of the Best
Our wedding caterer had referred us to Gayle Forte of Let Them Eat Cake and it was hands-down one of the best things to ever happen to us. We could not have possibly asked for a better experience!
To begin with, neither my fiancé nor I were particularly set on even serving a wedding cake in the first place... (we were considering other dessert options instead) until we tasted some samples from LTEC and immediately knew there was no turning back. The cake itself as well as the frosting were so exquisitely delicious, so light and airy yet decadent and full of flavor, truly unlike any wedding cake we had ever tasted before (and we've tasted quite a few!) We couldn't choose between just one flavor of cake and frosting, and so we were able to choose two sets of each to incorporate into our cake. (How LTEC was able to pair a vanilla blueberry cake and a spice cake with maple buttercream frosting all in one is beyond me, but trust me when I say it was a heavenly pairing...)
At that point nothing could have swayed our decision, but later working with Gayle was also an absolute dream. She took the time and patience to discuss every single option she could think of, to help us design our dream wedding cake. When I admitted to her that our wedding tally had been adding up and we were really trying to keep the cost as affordable as possible (while still feeding hundreds of mouths and living up to our dream of a tiered cake) you could tell she actually went out of her way to draw up designs with various affordable adjustments/options that still fit our newly discovered, distinct vision. She was extremely open and honest about her suggestions, when we know all too well that she could have easily set a price and stuck with it instead, and we would have just nodded along in agreement anyway. But no, she actually listened and drew up several options to fit our needs, rather than her own. You don't see that much these days, and it was refreshing to say the very least.
As if things couldn't get any better, we completely let her take the reins on the design after discussing our vision with her. It was even more beautiful than we could have ever expected. I had mentioned to her that our wedding palette included this color of a beige/dusty rose, a color I could barely even accurately describe. How she was able to match it perfectly in the frosting without me being able to even describe it, I have no idea. It was exact.
I could go on and on so I will leave it here and strongly urge everyone to reach out to Gayle Forte of Let The Eat Cake for any quality baking and expertise. Thank you so much!!

Jaw Dropping!
Gayle with Let Them Eat Cake blew us all away!! I knew after checking out her page that she would do something absolutely amazing!! We were not disappointed!! I had SO many guests and some of the staff for the wedding commenting, and taking pictures. They couldn't believe how gorgeous the cake was, it was so stunning! It was exactly what my husband and I wanted - it was rustic, but muted enough to not be overdone. She incorporated our Buck & Doe couple so perfectly, along with our initials "carved" into the "bark" on the cake, which was such a sweet memoir.
A lot of the guests had left before the cake was served, so we have plenty leftover. Those that ate it, loved it!! We had two flavors: lemon cake w/raspberry chambord torte & raspberry buttercream, along with a spice cake w/maple buttercream & apple pie filling. An absolutely gorgeous cake, and a delicious taste as well!!

Our cake was exactly what we hoped for - so beautiful, classic, and of course delicious. I had friends dropping by for DAYS after the wedding to have one more sliver! I'm slightly embarrassed to say I think I had 6 or 7 pieces myself. Gayle was a total pleasure to work with. So responsive, professional and talented. We could not have been happier with our gorgeous and yummy cake!

Gayle is amazing! Everything was perfect for our special day and the cake tasted perfect! My husband and I could not get enough and our guests all wanted to know where they could get more! They nailed it on this one! PERFECT cake!~
With the covid pandemic we had to move and re-plan my wedding in 20 days. I got my cake ordered over the phone and they were wonderful. They sent us cake samples asap and the cake was perfect. It was delivered exactly as we talked about and was more beautiful than i could have expected. It tasted wonderful! Everyone was commenting it. I would recommend them to anyone! .

Unbelievable Wedding Cake!
During COVID 2020 unfortunately was when my now Husband and I were scheduled to get married and that made things challenging for all couples, venues, and vendors...Let Them Eat Cake was the Bakery we chose for the wedding and we could not have been happier with them! Gayle was so nice, flexible, and understanding throughout everything! She was wonderful! I looked on the Let Them Eat Cake website for ideas of wedding cake designs she had done in the past and after selecting a design with my fiancé and Gayle....on the day of the wedding the cake looked even better than I had imagined! Not only was the cake a beautiful design but it was also delicious! I would highly recommend Let Them Eat Cake and working with Gayle to anyone looking to have a gorgeous cake for an event or any other delicious baked goods!

Most beautiful cake!
Our cake was exactly what we wanted. We live 3 hours away from where our venue was and our cake was from that area. Gail made sure that we talked on the phone numerous times and send multiple sketches of our cake to make sure it was what we wanted. It couldn't have been anymore perfect and it tasted amazing too!!

I highly recommend!
We were married on August 24, 2019, and the cake that Gayle made us was amazing, in every way. The design was beautiful. I told Gayle to use her artistic creativity to incorporate some type of painting on our cake, and she did not disappoint! It also was delectable. We didn’t have a single piece go uneaten and our guests were asking for seconds (of course, there wasn’t any). We cannot thank her enough for taking your artistic liberties in the design, in crafting the flavors, or in the easy coordination and delivery. The cake was also aesthetically perfect with our style, the wedding theme, and the venue.
Now, we are happily married and looking forward to our anniversary when we can (finish) eating the top tier.
I highly recommend Let Them Eat Cake!

Our package deal for our wedding at Village by the Sea in Wells, Maine included cake from Let Them Eat Cake. We could not have been more pleased. We had a tasting at an event at our venue, and knew we were in for a treat! The cake planning begins with a design consultation with Gayle. She discusses flavors, design, etc. After the design discussions Gayle sent us a beautiful sketch of the cake. We could not have been more pleased with the service Gayle provided, the taste and appearance of the cake!

Gayle was simply amazing to work with. She created two amazing cakes and 3 dozen cupcakes. We were a destination wedding so we did everything via email and mail. So here is why Gayle is amazing:
- She shipped us samples of cake so we had a remote taste test which was simply perfect
- She created a Curling Cake for our grooms cake from visuals we provided — She nailed it!!
- Our ocean themed three tier wedding cake was simply amazing!
- the cupcakes worked for our evening reception

Our wedding cake was out of this world beautiful and delicious!! The cake tasting process was fun since flavors were sent to us to try at home. Gayle was so easy to work with and very responsive via phone call and email. We chose carrot cake as our flavor and it was probably the best carrot cake I've ever had, so many people came up to us to tell us how tasty it was! She designed a cake that matched our color scheme and while also being unique. We couldn't have chosen a better person to make our wedding cake!

We are so happy we chose Let Them Eat Cake for our wedding cake! We live out of state, and Gayle was so wonderful to work with over the phone and email in planning our wedding cake. She sent samples for us to chose the type of cake flavor and frosting we would want and provided sketches through email of the cake design we discussed. On the day of the wedding the cake was delivered and set up, and we were able to rent a cake stand. When we walked into our reception and saw the cake we were so happy with how it turned out--The design was beautiful (exactly what we had envisioned). Additionally, the cake was so delicious—we got so many compliments on how good it was throughout the evening! We could not recommend Let Them Eat Cake any more highly!

Gayle is an incredible baker! She created a work of art for my wedding! I met with Gayle and told her I wanted to combine two pictures of cakes and she created an amazing cake! The best cake I've ever had
The cake we had was so delicious! I've never been a big fan of wedding cake, but ours was just as perfect on the inside as it was the outside. Gayle was an absolute dream to work with. We live in Boston, but she was able to make the tasting and design process SO easy by sending us cake in the mail and sending us a sketch of her vision of the cake (the world's cutest sketch, and it was 100% spot on!!!) If/ when I'm in Maine and need a cake, Let Them Eat Cake will be my first and only stop.

We’re not just saying this because it was our own wedding, but this truly was the most delicious wedding cake we have ever had (and our guests agree!). We had the vanilla cake with Maine blueberry filling and it was out of this world. The cake was also beautifully decorated to fit our theme (Nautical Maine with lobsters). Besides the cake itself, Gayle was a joy to work with. She was always available to jump on a call when we had questions or concerns. Please let me tell you how amazing Gayle is – she’s a wedding day super hero! After we had a little change of plans with the original cake vendor and they could no longer make it, my first call was to Gayle with “Let them Eat Cake.” She immediately empathized with us and gave us a sense of calm immediately. I wasn’t the kind of person who panicked with wedding stuff, but with two weeks until our wedding, she agreed and was willing to create the cake of our dreams that we had pictured for so long – super hero right?! Her attention to detail is very high level and was extremely responsive. Now – the cake – c’mon, it was DELICIOUS! For our summer wedding, we chose to have 3 tiers, two that were vanilla cake & vanilla buttercream and the other lemon cake with lemon buttercream - best decision ever – she even surprised us with an anniversary tier. Made us so happy, as we weren’t originally planning on it and with the short amount of time we gave her, we didn’t want to add more pressure & work – guys, we cried with tears of joy when the venue said she made us one. This is the best reason to good cry over cake. The cake was elegant with her classy design and even took the time to add our cake pull charms as well. If you’re not familiar with a cake pull, it’s a great southern tradition (I was raised in the South) with charms added to the cake for your bridesmaids to literally pull out of the cake and the charms are a surprise and have special meaning. Gayle was able to have me mail the charm bracelets to her since we live in MA and her in Maine. it was a fun addition to our day and was glad Gayle could make this happen for us. I will always call Gayle for future cakes – she’s worth the drive to Maine!! If you’re getting married in Southern Maine, Gayle is your gal! You’ll be so glad you chose her!!

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with Gayle at Let Them Eat Cake. I contracted her to make a custom cake for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, which fell on Jan. 6th, right after the holidays. I was very busy and I was making my arrangements very last minute but Gayle was extremely responsive and accessible as well as flexible. Once we made the decision to move forward with the cake, she was lightning quick in helping me create the design. She understood the aesthetic I was hoping for right away and sent me sketches that reflected our discussions. The cake itself was so elegant and tasteful (and also delicious!) My parents were blown away - after the party, my mom was texting me pictures of her having little cake snacks with her champagne as we savored the leftovers. Gayle is incredibly talented and so pleasant to work with, and her pricing is extremely reasonable for the quality and level of care you receive as a client. If I ever have another occasion for a custom cake in New England, I will 100% work with Gayle again. Strongly recommend!

My husband and I were recommended by our vendor to work with Gayle from Let them eat cake. We live in the Boston area so in the beginning I was very nervous. But from the very first welcome email to the very last thank you email Gayle was a dream to work with. My husband and I had a very specific idea for a cake that included zero fondont and an old fashion look. Gayle created our dream cake in a sketch after just ONE call! Next up was the tasting, she explained that we could choose flavors and they would be mailed to us over night, my immediate thought was "cake in the mail ? This sounds awful"....oh was I wrong ! The cake was so amazing and delicious it made me order a whole cake for my sons baby shower before we even had the wedding ! Gayle is about 2 hours away from my home but her cake was so amazing that I will be using her for every event that requires cake ! From her creative eye to her bubbly personality this was an amazing experience !

Gayle did an amazing job with my nautical themed cupcakes and anniversary cake! We had many compliments on how tasteful the cupcakes were and how the frosting was sweet but not heavy! Cupcakes were perfectly moist. We picked up our own cupcakes and Gayle left detailed instructions on storing and set up of the cupcakes that was extremely helpful. Gayle Forte was wonderful! I ordered a wedding cake and groom's cake and they were perfect! Our wedding cake was beautiful and the groom's cake was exactly what we wanted and delicious. Gayle did an absolutely beautiful job on our cake!! We had a two-tiered anniversary cake at the top, and 100 cupcakes for our guests. I worked with Gayle at Let Them Eat Cake. When everyone else paused at my cake request, Gayle jumped in! She helped me recreate a fountain cake that my grandmother made about 30 years ago for my cousin's wedding. It was beautiful. edible, and magical! Additionally, Gayle and I worked on the cake from afar. She sent samples that arrived in tact and gave us a fabulous preview of our options. I had a long list of what I wanted in a wedding cake, but after contacting multiple New England bakeries, I soon realized that I would have to compromise in at least one respect - until I called Gayle. Her website is a treasure trove of inspiration and the samples she quickly mailed to us were perfect for deciding flavor. We went with the apricot hazelnut. Although the hazelnut was not very strong, the cake as a whole was flavorful and moist with a tight crumb. It reminded me of a pound cake.
Ours wasn't very large, only two tiers, but Gayle's amazing talent made it more impressive than some of the biggest cakes I looked at online. She made buttercream flowers along the sides, large buttercream ruffles, amazing sugar flowers and succulents on top, and the cutest little metallic sugar starfish (her idea!). It all came together beautifully, and I'm already trying to think of another occasion to go back to Maine and order another cake!
One last thing - Gayle is kind but businesslike, which is awesome because she gives you the feeling that you can really trust her (so, so important to look for in a wedding vendor), and she was very flexible when we called to say we were running behind on our pickup day. I truly couldn't recommend her more.

Absolutely stunning. Our wedding cake was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined and tasted amazing!!! We had wedding guests tell us that this was the best wedding cake they have ever tasted. Gayle was so easy to work with long distance. She mailed us samples of cake so we could taste them in the comforts of our own home and when was convenient for us. If we had any questions, she was available via email or phone. Gayle has an enormous gallery of cakes to look through and is so accommodating if you would like to create a design of your own. My husband and I cannot wait until our 1 year anniversary to eat our wedding cake again, it was just so so good!

The cake was one of my favorite parts of our wedding! It was so easy to work with Gayle, who really listened to our requests and provided sketches beforehand. She perfectly captured everything that we wanted in our cake, and it became a highlight of many of our wedding photos. She really listens to what you want and shares sketches so you can come up with a design that really reflects our ideas. It came out beautiful. She added every detail we discussed. When I first started planning my wedding, I, like many brides, was completely overwhelmed with the amount of phone calls and emails and communication that went into planning an event of that magnitude. Gayle made the wedding cake the easiest part to plan. We had one short phone call to put everything in motion (although she will give you all the time you need, of course!) and the rest was done by email. I didn't know how to explain exactly what I wanted, but It was like Gayle knew exactly what was in my brain and made it a reality. We loved our wedding cake so much and we received many compliments from our guests on both how beautiful and delicious it was! I plan to order that exact flavor (strawberry grand marnier torte filling with vanilla cake and buttercream icing) the next time I plan an event so I don't have to go my entire life without ever tasting it again! It was truly a pleasure working with her.

I loved working with Gayle! She is so nice, easy to chat with during the design process, and delivers a beautiful (and delicious!) cake. I honestly hired her because of her adorable lobster cake topper, but I was so pleased with every other detail. I left a lot of the decision making up to her ( a long as I got the lobsters!) and I could not have been happier outcome.

Gayle was recommended to us by our main contact at our wedding venue and I couldn't have been happier to work with her! We live in Michigan but were married in October in Maine and Gayle did an amazing job making the cake selection process a fun one, even from hundreds of miles away. I spoke with Gayle several times as she walked me through the process- she is very thorough, kind and accommodating. She is great for out of town couples because she overnights cake samples. We had so much fun selecting the flavor! Once we talked design, she sent us a sketch. On the day of, she delivered the cake and finished the overall design by adding some extra flowers our florist brought. Everything turned out beautiful and the cake was absolutely amazing (spice cake with maple buttercream frosting.... delish)! Gayle is the BEST, we loved working with her!

Gayle was amazing and a pleasure to work with! I first met her at the Nonantum Wedding show back in November 2015. Although I didn't book with her right away, as I was just starting the chaos of planning, I am very happy I went with her. We had cake samples sent to our house in Massachusetts, and needless to say they were all amazing. We went with a simple vanilla buttercream and really you can't go wrong! We received many, many compliments on how delicious and beautiful the cake was. My husband is already looking forward to our 1 year wedding anniversary to eat the portion we saved (that is if he doesn't eat it before then)! Once again, gayle was great! I wish I had more family and friends who were looking to get married in Maine, so I could recommend Let Them Eat Cake, but for now I highly suggest everyone book with her! Thanks again gayle!! :)

My daughter selected Gayle at “Let Them Eat Cake” to design and prepare her wedding cake. Gayle was quick to respond, and extremely flexible and professional. We had three tiers, and three scrumptious flavors . My guests commented over and over again about how fresh and delicious the cake was. There was very little left at the end of the event. Gayle worked within our budget and designed a beautiful cake which was a focal point at the reception. I highly recommend this place.

My family and friends were concerned that all the correspondence was via email and phone with no in person contact, but I thought it was great. Made everything go faster and easier to track via electronic paper trail. The day of my wedding I teared up looking at my cake for the first time. It looked exactly the way I wanted it to. Gayle’s cake was amazing! She was very organized and kept me on track on what I needed to do. The cake was beautiful. It was beach themed with starfish, shells, and waves as well as bands of my wedding color, pool. It’s amazing such a beautiful piece of art was all edible (minus the Adirondack chairs). I love that she suggested saving the chairs to use as Christmas ornaments. It tasted delicious and we received a ton of compliments. I would highly recommend her cake because not only is it beautiful but it’s delicious!

We found Let The Eat Cake at the Nonantum Resort wedding vendor show, once we saw the lobster cake we knew we found our cake vendor! Gayle, the owner, provided several samples for us to take home and try...THEY WERE ALL AMAZING! We had a hard time selecting one, but we went with the red velvet. We stayed in touch throughout the planning process and prior to our wedding we jumped on the phone to talk about my vision, when the cake arrived on our wedding day it was beyond my wildest dreams, it was beautiful and our guests loved the lobsters topper. Couldn't recommend her enough!

This was the first wedding cake that I have every had (including my own wedding) where the cake actually tasted wonderful. Usually they are make more for looks not for taste. It was the best wedding cake by far that I have ever eaten. If you are looking for someone to make your cake then Let Them Eat Cake is the place to go. Gayle (the owner) is so easy and accommodating. I chose Gayle Forte (Let Them Eat Cake) after my daughter taste-tested cakes from several wedding cake vendors in Maine and NH. As you can see, we gave Gayle 5 stars for everything. She was in a word "amazing." The cake was freshly baked, and tasted like a cake you would order at an expensive restaurant. We chose chocolate with white butter cream frosting. The cake was so moist and flavorful. And it was gorgeous! Gayle was flexible and helpful throughout. We chose to pick up the cake ourselves and so I was able to meet Gayle in person. She is incredibly nice. When I told her we had special cake toppers she gave me extra frosting so that the toppers would stand firm on the cake. If you are trying to decide on a wedding cake vendor you should choose "Let Them Eat Cake." You cannot go wrong. Delish cake. Responsible and reliable cake-maker. Wow.

At the last minute our cupcake plans for the wedding fell through, I picked up the phone called Gayle and from that instant she was understanding, patient, accommodating, and attentive. Her cupcakes were beautiful with intricate flower designs- all with buttercream and not fondant (which is a huge plus for me). I cannot get over how moist and perfectly sweet these cupcakes were. Not to mention I requested (again last minute) to have cupcakes boxed up with added personalized stickers so our guests could take cupcakes home, she did this without any hesitation. Gayle even went the extra step to provide cupcake tiers and set up/breakdown the cupcakes at the restaurant.
The last two weeks before my wedding a few things fell through and I can honestly say that after speaking with Gayle, I could fully relax because I knew at least the cupcakes would be taken care of. We could not be happier with Gayle. I highly recommend her!

We got married August 6th of this year and had the best cake ever! Gayle did an amazing job on our three tiered cake that tasted so delicious. If there were styles of cake or cake lingo I didn't know, she would send me pictures of what the styles looked like etc so we were both on the same page. She is incredibly patient and the whole process felt so personalized! Our cake was not only absolutely delicious, it really was the hit of our wedding! People could not stop talking about how amazing the cake looked and how it went so well with our theme and the colors matched etc it really felt unreal. Guests kept going up to it to take pictures all night. I also received a lot of compliments from guests on how moist the cake was! If I could choose another wedding cake vendor all over again, I would choose Gayle every time. I am so happy with my decision to go with Let Them Eat Cake for our special day.
