What is included in a wedding catering package?

Your wedding catering may be provided by your wedding venue, or you may want or need to hire an outside caterer. What are the different ways to serve wedding reception food?

When determining your wedding food cost, a big factor will be how you’re planning on serving the meal. There are a few serving style options for weddings:

Plated: Otherwise known as a sit-down meal, your guests will be served their meal at their table by a member of the wait staff. There may be a single entrée option served or several entrée options, which your guests can either order in advance (usually on their RSVP card) or at the event. Red Sky is amazing. The food is great and the staff are even better. We used them for 3 events during our week long wedding celebration and all our guests commented on the great food and super friendly staff. Shout out to Alexis for always being available and helpful as we coordinated all of our events. Also, to Nikki for being so attentive to our guests. Would highly recommend chef dinner in beach home, was a nice way to end our week.

We had 12 people and ordered the catered boil at our beach house. Emilia was our cook and she was wonderful. Sadly, she had to do almost all of the cooking in the rain. Emilia was personable, efficient, and made us an excellent boil. Our family loved it. The food was delicious and we added crab legs, mussels, clams, and cornbread to the original order. When the family finished eating there was only a small amount of shrimp left……nothing else! Emilia cleaned everything up so swiftly and then she was gone. I would highly recommend this company to anyone considering having a seafood boil. If you are lucky enough to get Emilia, you will not be disappointed. Lorraine Tabish

We cannot say enough amazing things about Cassidy, Chef Chris & the ENTIRE Steamers team. From our initial call with Cassidy she made us feel so comfortable. She walked us through the menu more times than we can count, hosted us for TWO tastings and eased all my worries when we had a few last minute cancellations and changes. They understood and accommodated ALL of our guests allergies and food restrictions. The Steamers team even went out of their way to offer non-alcoholic toast options for our guests. The presentation of the food was BREATHTAKING, every bite was divine. Our guests are still raving about the food, and we had countless people tell us this was the best food they had at a wedding (we had a lot of picky eaters so this is a very high compliment). You can tell that the Steamers leadership team treats their employees well and that shines through in their service. We would recommend Steamers to anyone who is looking for the best catering team in OBX.

Chef RJ was fantastic!!! My husband did most of the communication up until the wedding and Chef was always extremely responsive and professional! We had a vast selection due to several guests with allergies and we couldn’t have asked for a better chef! Chef RJ was early and prompt with set up and cooking/prep on site! The food was delicious and everyone raved about it! With the grooms family hailing from Louisiana, we knew having a high quality meal would be the icing on the cake. Many have already inquired about how they work with Chef RJ in the future

My husband and I are so grateful for Lisa and Marcelo. We needed to switch caterers last minute (a few weeks before our wedding date) and they were so helpful and easy to work with. They were quick to respond and made it so easy for us to choose them! We went for a tasting and absolutely fell in love with both the food and the Lisa and Marcelo! They made a fun competition the day of the tasting to see whose dishes my husband and I liked more. Of course it was impossible to decide because they were all so incredible! They were so flexible and easy to communicate with and when it came down the the wedding day we never worried once! They are extremely professional, experienced, and so passionate about what they do - it shows through in the delicious meals that they prepare! We just love them and I cannot speak more highly about them!

Wanda and her fabulous husband catered a post-wedding rehearsal dinner for us in May of 2022. Wanda is a delight to deal with and the Carolina BBQ that they prepared was a big hit. From the big details (the food of course and her suggestion to hold the dinner at a nearby pavilion with covered picnic tables) to the small (allowing us to supply the cutlery, table cloths and plastic ware and picking up all of it plus adult beverages and setting it up) everything done was spot on. Their mobile kitchen also is impressive. I highly recommend Wanda for any event.
