I highly do NOT recommend House of Brides. I ordered my dress back in April and it originally came in June 25th but was the wrong size and they were already trying to charge me alteration fees of $325 with out me even trying on the dress. They sent it back to get the correct size and I was told it would be back in 2 weeks later. Months passed and no word on my dress. 3 months before my wedding I continually called to find out the process of my dress and never got a call back from the manager. 1 month before, still no word of my dress and I had JUST gotten my bridesmaids dresses that were also ordered in April. My head piece was also not in yet. 5 weeks before the wedding date (Nov 11, 2011) I finally get through by going to their customer relations and they tell me it is stuck in customs. I had to threaten them and tell them if I did not have my dress by the end of the week I would be going to the BBB. All of a sudden 4 weeks prior to the wedding I get a call and am told my dress is finally in. Luckily for them it was the correct size. We had to fight to get free alterations of the bust (very minimal alterations) and to get the bustle done (which was done by the alterations lady with out them knowing). DO NOT GO TO HOUSE OF BRIDES!!

I ended up buying my dress from HoB since they were having a sale. Actually the experience at the actual salon was fine. I went to both this location and the one downtown. However, after the purchase was made, things started to go down hill. I was told that my dress would take 12-16 weeks. However, after about 5 months when I still hadn't heard from them, I started to worry and called them. After about 5 messages, I finally got someone on the phone. From there, she was very condescending telling me that I ordered in busy bridal season and that China takes off the entire month of January and that's why it was late. How would I know that? These are the types of things that I would expect would make the dress take more on the 16 week rather than 12 weeks. I kept calling back after another 3 weeks and got the run around. This happened another 2 times before my dress finally came in mid July. That would mean it took almost 8 months for my dress to come in. Due to such poor customer service, I took my dress elsewhere to be altered. Moral of the story is, if you buy your dress here, LIE about your wedding date by at least 5 months.

I found an amazing dress and that in the only positive thing about my experience. I bought it off the rack, but my bridesmaids dresses needed to be ordered, which didn't happen when it was supposed to, they got the dresses just in time to get altered the week before the wedding. I had complications with everything from them not giving me the right slip that I bought, not doing what they were supposed to for my alterations, the dress was never already pulled for my appointment, they said they were giving me a discount when they charged me what they had originally quoted me for things like cleaning and alterations. Many times when I asked someone a question, they acted like I was inconveniencing them. Thank GOD everything came out okay and in tie for my wedding! If I had to do it all again I don't know if I would go there again.

We got our bridesmaid dresses from here. They were helpful, prompt, and nice. Only downfall is dresses here cost more than they would have at a nice department store or shop.

The House of Brides in Glen Ellyn is very professional, clean, and friendly. It is so much better than the location in Schamburg. I got my dress and my bridesmaids dresses here. The staff was friendly and always helpful. I got the person's email address which was so nice when questions came up. And the staff members, especially Jen, was always cheerful and helpful. They helped me put my entire look together which I'm still getting compliments on.

However I took off a 1/2 star on professional because on 2 occasions I waited at the front counter for 5 - 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. Also, I took off 1/2 star on value because the flat rate for alterations was way too high for the little amount of work I had done to my dress.

Overall, I enjoyed House of Brides in Glen Ellyn and would recommend it to others.

I had a great experience both with my wedding dress as well as my bridesmaid dresses from House of Brides. I worked with Annette and she was wonderful!! I purchased my dress during an event the store was hosting and received a credit I was able to use for both my shoes and hair piece. My alterations were exactly what I wanted and I couldn't have been happier with the experience.

We had some major hiccups with our wedding attire here (manufacturer's error), but House of Brides stepped up to the plate and made sure everything was done on time and PERFECTLY! =)

As a bride stress free planning is key. If you want to stress, go here. I did not recieve my veil until a week and a half before my wedding. My dress was not there when they said it would be NOR was my veil. When you call to find out what is going on and where your stuff is they lie, they do not return phone calls and the woman that answers the phone is RUDE!
They are GREAT initially then after you give them what they want which is the sale and your money they are non responsive.

My first visit to the House of Brides in Glen Ellyn was great. I worked with Anette and found my wedding dress right away. I actually narrowed it down to four dresses and wanted to sleep on it before I made my decision. I looked at the pictures of all of my favorite dresses (which I highly recommend...some dresses looked very different in pictures) and ended up chosing the dress I liked the minute I put it on. It looked even better in pictures too so that helped! The next trip was pretty good too...I bought my dress and looked at bridesmaid dresses. No one really helped us with the dresses, which wasn't a big deal, but we didn't really have any guidance so it was hard to choose. I found some dresses online so we made another trip to the store. The store had about half of the dresses I found online. It wasn't that big of a deal since the one I liked the most was there so we were happy. 3/5 bridesmaids bought the dress right away and I had to come with the remaining two later on to get it. I really had no problem doing that, except that we got a different consultant who charged my sister for getting her measured. My sister was 7 months pregnant at our wedding so she wasn't even ordering by size numbers...the consultant measured her and said she suggests getting a medium...all for $15. Mind you that I never got charged for being measured for a wedding dress nor did the rest of the bridesmaids (and we all ordered an actual size number as opposed to the generic "medium").
Even after the dresses were ordered, I was still fairly pleased with the service. Once they made the sale, everything changed. I would call well over 16 weeks since the order (which they say is the lates arrival date) and they would be no help. The ladies that work the front desk are completely useless. They don't know how to use the phone (I've had way too many dropped calls) and really have no clue when you ask them any questions. Their seamstress Toni was OK. It was frustrating setting up appointments with her since the front desk ladies "are not allowed" to pencil in appointments in Toni's book and Toni was always busy so you end up playing phone tag with her. She is way too pricey especially if you only need minor alterations. She has a set price, regardless of what you need. I had one bridesmaid that needed to alter pretty much her entire dress since she lost weight and another one that just had hers pulled up at the neck and they both paid $85. She did an OK job...definitely not worth the price. I wanted the girls to get their dresses altered elsewhere but we were on a time crunch once the dresses finally arrived.

House of Brides service was fair. The dress was very pretty and everything it was suppose to be. The only thing was that they said they emailed me and didn't. Other than that I would recommend someone to them

I had a good experience picking out and receiving my dress, but I had a horrible time trying to get my veil. I called 5+ times and stopped in twice (over the course of 7 months!), and they finally "found it in the back" just a month before my wedding. They have reasonable prices for dresses if you are willing to deal with their lack of professionalism.

I had the worst experience ever. My dress broke ON MY WEDDING DAY. Just before dancing started, the zipper came apart. I had no choice but to change into a black outfit (that was the only other thing I had).

I called House of Brides after the wedding and told them that I expect a dress that cost 1200 to stay intact for at least 6 hours. Especially considering that it did nto need ANY alterations. They were rude to me, hung up on me a couple of time and told em there was nothing they could do for me. They could not refund me money.

I WOULD NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. I went to them because David's Bridal received such bad reviews from almost everyone I know. Well, I guess none of them are very good.

I was on a short time line to get a dress because I was out of town. Sarah helped me narrow down my choices and track the dresses. She kept us up to date on sales and ordering procedures. In two trips I had my dress picked out and placed the order. Unfortunately, by the time my dress was in, Sarah no longer worked for the company. No explanation. My mother went to pick up the dress and there was a small issue. They were expecting me and did not receive the notation that I lived out of town. Overall, I found a great dress for under $500 and was able to get it in under 6 months.

While the House of Brides did a GREAT job with my wedding dress, i would NOT recommend them for bridesmaids or flower girls dresses. Not only did THEY order the wrong items in the wrong sizes for my bridesmaids (they chose their top and bottom coordinates), they would not do ANYTHING to try to rectify the situation. They literally fought with one of my bridesmaids at the front counter, and then told her they would not do any alterations for her because she was not happy with what was ordered for her. They seem to go through sales people pretty quickly, and I didn't work with the same person twice in a year's time. I would NOT recommend House of Brides in Glen Ellyn to anyone!

We went to the store and it only took 45 minutes for me to find the dress of my dreams! It was absolutely beautiful and we spend less than 1200 for the dress and veil, which several people told me were 'breathtaking' :) We got the bridesmaid dresses through here as well and had no problems whatsoever. I would definitely recommend this again!
