I was very pleased with the flavor and appearance of our wedding cakes! Yes, I said cakes because we had a traditional wedding cake and I also surprised my husband with a groom's cake. He was thrilled because it incorporated some of his favorite things: the St. Louis arch (where he proposed), the St. Louis Blues (his favorite team), and our 2 dogs. I was thrilled with the work and detail on this cake. Our wedding cake was simple (so that I could afford the groom's cake), but tasted extraordinary! My husband and I loved how moist, delicious and unique our cake was. There were flavors that were a little different, but not so different that all of our guests couldn't find something they liked. They also took the time to restore my grandparents cake topper which was yellowed and in disrepair, but they made it look practically new, which was an invaluable service to me!

I got engaged in March and couldnt have been more excited to start planning my wedding. I had a good friend that said she got her wedding cake from Confection and that is was good so I thought I would stop by and see what they offer. I paid the downpayment after stopping by the shop and scheduled a cake tasting on May 21, 2011. I was SO excited to do the tasting with my mom and soon to be mother n law. Little did I know the experience was not going to be what I expected. The owner, Giti came out and brought us a plate of four different flavors (lemor, banana, chocolate, and vanilla) along with a few frostings...after we were finished tasting those we assumed we would get to try a few more because the owner nor did anyone at the bakery ask what flavors I wanted to try and being this was my first time planning a wedding/doing cake tasting, i had NO IDEA that the bakery expected me to know they ONLY allow four flavors and anything beyong that is an extra charge. One would think that if they only allow four flavors that they would have specified this and asked what flavors we wanted to try! In mid June there were a few of us downtown so we thought we would stop by the bakery.. little did i know that there was going to be a sign on the door stating the business was closed.....that following Monday i emailed Giti and asked her what was going on and communicated with her how nervous i was due me already paying down payment... she stated that Confection was actually moving to a new location, but i didnt believe it. What business owner would put on the business door "closed" instead of "relocating" if that was the case. After going back and forth on email she finally agreed to give me a refund and would mail to the address on file, this was on june 20, 2011.. only June 27, 2011 i sent a follow up email and after several days and other follow up emails she finally responded stating she communicated with me that a refund would be mailed and asked me to confirm which address that it should be mailed to. Keep in mind that in email on June 20 she said she WAS mailing to address on file....i have emailed her SEVERAL times since WITHOUT ONE SINGLE response and still no refund check. I thought planning your wedding was suppose to be a great experience... Confection has done nothing but turn it into a miserable experience so far!! if anyone has any suggests as to how to get a hold of her please let me know.. i have tried the number on website but of course it is disconnected!!!!!!!!!! what a successful way to run a business!

Giti, the owner is the most unprofessional woman I have ever met. DO NOT get your wedding cake done from this woman or even get lunch from this horrible establishment. Giti, never responded back to our needs until several days past my requested phone call. No one is ever available to answer phone calls. Our cake was something out of a horror movie. It tasted like dog turds!!!! that was not meant to be funny in any aspect of the manner. When my husband and I complained, Giti decided to just not bother responding to our needs, and complaint. She simply ignored us from that point on, no matter how many times we called. In addition, we requested half our money back. She agreed and then never paid us. She also promises a one year anniversary cake with every wedding cake purchase. This is also a lie. She gives nothing. This business is the worst I have ever seen!!!! STAY AWAY BRIDES!!!!

Giti was wonderful to work with and very willing to create my vision for my wedding cake. Also a great value if you use MBE trade for materials. Confections gave me an elegant and delicious wedding cake!

We initially thought that Confection was a little expensive; however, we felt pretty confident that they would be able to create exactly what we were looking for. They more than exceeded our expectations and we couldn't have been happier with the result. It was WELL WORTH the cost! The cake was absolutely stunning. It was so well done we couldn't even believe our own eyes! It also tasted divine. We ordered the vanilla cake with the raspberry mousse filling and it was SOOOO good! We highly recommend Confection!

Confection provided great service when we dropped by for a tasting, but the cake designer was a nightmare to get ahold of, even within the week prior to our wedding. We did have many compliments on our cake, and have already eaten our way through the "1 month anniversary" top tier. Ooops!

This was the most delicious wedding cake I have ever eaten. The price was very reasonable, and the cake was lovely. They worked with my florist so I didn't have to worry about the coordination of delivery and decoration. My only complaint is that their cakes are so wonderful that they are VERY busy. This resulted in a few miscommunication between us. For example, we were scheduled for a tasting, but the owner double booked and the staff knew nothing about our coming. The staff threw together a lovely tasting and everything worked out just fine. Also, the owner, who does the bookings, is not very tech savy. While most of my wedding planning was done through e-mail, she was the only one who responded better to phone calls in order to communicate.

Giti does such beautiful work. We were so excited when we walked in to our reception and there was out fabulous cake. The 'oohs' and 'ahhs' from our guests was fun to hear.

The cake tasted good and was delivered without incident. The cake is extremely expensive and we knew that, due to quality ingredients etc. We were charged a hefty amount for cake design, even though a picture was provided with the exact design that we wanted. After all was said and done, we were disappointed with the cake. The filling was skimpy and the cake was not exactly what we had expected after the cake tastings.

Confection with no doubt makes the best wedding cake you will ever taste in Kalamazoo. My maid of honor and I found Confection through the Rose Street Market Bridal Show in Kalamazoo. Their cakes are smooth as silk in your mouth leaving you to savor every natural ingredient they bake in the cake. The only thing I would like to see improved is communication. I called to ask about my cake several times: It was hard to get through to someone to answer my questions and I was put on hold once for over 10 minutes and forgotten. After my wedding I called to make sure I had all the cake parts to return, since I've never been married and I don't know what these items look like or how many items I needed to look for to return. I wanted to make sure I had everything before returning to my home town, which is over an hour and a half away. The young lady I talked to didn't know, and maybe it's not her job, but as much as we spent on the cake it would've been nice of her to check with someone. Once I got to Confection the same girl said the same thing and although it wasn't busy she didn't bother to ask anyone and walked away from me although I still wasn't sure if what I was dropping off was all of the parts needed. The shop wasn't busy and I felt her service was very poor.
Confection cake is wonderful to taste and the decorations were nice. The tasting that Giti provided was amazing. During the tastings after clients pay for their cakes please show them the parts so that they know what needs to be returned even if it is on the invoice, visuals are nice. : ) Confection wedding cake is the cake you want if you want your guest to remember an amazingly tasty cake!

Giti and Christa from Confection were a dream to work with. We had our tasting with Christa and never even bothered looking anywhere else. I first came to them with two ideas: a photo from a magazine and a recipe from a little bakery in Budapest of a cake I'd loved when studying abroad. Giti said it would be no problem to try to make it, but we just needed to translate the recipe! After seeing the pounds of marzipan it would have required to make it into a wedding cake, we decided instead to go with two flavors from Confection's repertoire: chocolate and the caramel apple cake. "Decadent" does not begin to describe the depth of flavor and the obvious care and quality that goes into each cake. Our cake arrived at the wedding a work of art, and absolutely divine-tasting (not at all "beautiful to look at but chalk to taste"). Confection's flexibility was especially helpful for me, as I was planning my wedding in Michigan from Virginia, where my husband and I live. Finally, we can't wait for our first anniversary, when Confection will mail a fresh cake top for us to celebrate!

Confection is an absolutely exceptional business. The owner, Giti, is a gracious and accomodating woman with boundless creativity. The cakes were inventive, beautiful, and delicious!

The owner was difficult to get in touch with. I tried e-mail and she did not respond. When I called they took about ten minutes to find the file for my order. Then, when the cake was delivered it was not decorated to my specifications. They were supposed to include some crystal accents on the cake, but they did not. The cake tasted great, but the overall look of it was not impressive.

I found Confection at a bridal show in Kalamazoo last year. Their cake was delicious and I promptly booked a tasting. One of their bakers, Christine, came over to my friend's house with 6 flavors of cake and 4 flavors of buttercream which we had chosen from their extensive list. Christine was great to work with and the cake was the best I've ever tasted. At the tasting I asked for a flavor that was not on their list and Christine baked one especially for us to try about a week later. They decorated it just as I had asked.

We ordered a groom's cake and a wedding cake for 60 people, but when our guest list shrank they happily worked with us to reduce the size of the cakes, which also reduced the price. They were scheduled to deliver both cakes the afternoon before the wedding and planned to leave the wedding cake in the restaurant's fridge overnight.

The day before the wedding I got a call from Giti (the owner). She said they didn't want to deliver the wedding cake the day before because they'd had bad luck with restaurant fridges lately. She offered to make a special trip for free to deliver it on the day of! I was very impressed by that, since the delivery fee was $80.

Every guest took home some cake and we finished off the rest of it on our honeymoon. It was *so* good. (And saved us the expense of buying dessert for the 5 days it took us to finish it!)

The best part is that we will get a free fresh cake on our anniversary as part of the deal. I can't wait to choose the flavor!

I called Confection 1 month before my wedding reception because the vendor I had originally selected could not provide adequate service. Confection provided a level of service that was beyond exceptional. Their staff was able to meet my fiance and I at a convenient time and were even willing to come to our home. The samples were beautifully presented and customizing the flavors was no problem. Like all brides, I wanted a fabulous looking and tasting cake that people would talk about for years to come. Confection created custom colors and designs that reflected my husband & perfectly. Our friends and family still talk about how delicious it was!
