Northern California’s wine country is famous for its picturesque views, world-class vineyards, and elite resorts. For some couples, getting married in Sonoma County or Napa Valley is like a dream come true, but this renowned region can also mean that many venues come with a high price tag. Fortunately, there are a number of affordable Sonoma wedding venues (and a few options in nearby Napa!) that are perfect for bringing your dream vision to life, even if you’re on a budget. The average cost of a wedding venue in Napa Valley is $9,250, but we've found several locations throughout the region that check in well below that cost.
Host a memorable event without breaking the bank at these affordable Sonoma wedding venues.
Hiddenbrooke Golf Club
Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo is an ideal venue for couples who want everything available in one place (and at an affordable price). This elegant venue offers customizable wedding packages to fit your budget and will supply nearly all of the essentials for your big day. For your ceremony, choose from an outdoor chapel on the garden lawn, an intimate clubhouse, a glass-window pavilion, or a spacious banquet room. The 18-hole Arnold Palmer golf course has amazing views of Napa Valley (see it in action with this real wedding) and can accommodate up to 250 guests. As of May 2019, the ceremony site fee during peak season starts at $3,000. Based on prices for a Saturday wedding, in-house catering packages start at $75 per guest for a two-course plated meal with included dessert option. Hiddenbrooke Golf Club will also provide Chiavari chairs, round banquet tables, linens, flatware, china, cake cutting, and event staff. Hiddenbrooke Golf Club also offers an elopement package, which includes ceremony chairs, an officiant, floral arrangements, photography, cake, and a champagne toast.
What we love most about this venue is that it offers all-inclusive packages for any budget without requiring you to sacrifice on stunning scenery or quality service. Located in Novato about 20 minutes south of Sonoma, Wedgewood StoneTree overlooks rolling hills and San Pablo Bay. Package pricing begins around $100 per person based on a Saturday wedding with 101 guests during peak season (May-October). The ceremony site fee is $995. Chairs, flatware, tables, linens, setup/breakdown, and staffing costs are all included. Catering is provided in-house, and you have the choice of a plated or buffet-style meal with assorted appetizers, beverages and dessert. Wedding invitations, floral design, and a DJ are all available through the venue, but you can hire outside vendors for those services if you prefer.
The Highlands Estate
Consider traveling a little farther north of Sonoma and Napa to get more bang for your buck while still enjoying gorgeous wine country scenery. The Highlands Estate is located in Cloverdal, which is about a 90-minute drive from Sonoma, and it’s definitely worth the journey. You’ll have the entire 21-acre venue to yourself throughout your wedding weekend, including the charming white mansion where you can stay the night and get ready on the big day. The Highlands Estate is surrounded by Syrah vineyards, and the property features a pond, hilltop ceremony site, barn, and sprawling trees. To sum it up, there’s no shortage of picture-perfect backdrops at this venue! Fees for Saturday weddings during peak season (April-October) average between $6,600 and $7,500 based on 100 guests. You’ll need to hire your own vendors for catering, entertainment, event coordination, etc., but reviews from past couples rave about the top-notch treatment they received from the estate owners.
Mountain House Estate
Another venue we love in the Cloverdale area is the Mountain House Estate. If you’re looking for a venue that’s simply a gorgeous backdrop without obligations for catering packages, beverage minimums or approved vendor lists, this is the place for you! The estate has 40 acres of private property, making it one of the most secluded and affordable Sonoma wedding venues. During your wedding weekend, you’ll have exclusive use of the entire property from Friday to Sunday, including the main house, which features a full kitchen and overnight accommodations for up to 12 people. Site fees during peak season start at $1,500 for the ceremony and $6,500 for the reception. Included in your wedding package at Mountain House Estate are: banquet tables and chairs (up to 175 guests), cocktail tables, lighting, a bar with beer taps/wine cooler, catering kitchens, market umbrellas, fire pits, lounge furniture, and restrooms.
SpringHill Suites Napa Valley
If you’re looking for a venue that combines the beauty of northern California with the convenience of a top-rated resort, check out SpringHill Suites Napa Valley. This hotel is one of our favorite affordable Napa wedding venues and it’s conveniently located to all of the area’s best attractions and wineries. Budget-conscious couples will love the hotel’s affordable wedding packages and site fees, which start at $1,500 for receptions during peak season (catering not included). Along with vendor recommendations and on-site event coordination, SpringHill Suites Napa Valley will provide banquet tables, linens, decorative accents, glassware, flatware, and guest room blocks. On the night of your wedding, enjoy a complimentary hotel room. SpringHill Suites Napa Valley has a pool and outdoor lounge area for pre- or post-wedding relaxing.
Not only is this Victorian estate one of the best affordable Sonoma wedding venues, it’s also one of the most charming. Originally built in 1881, Madrona Manor is surrounded by eight acres of romantic gardens and wooded grounds, creating a peaceful backdrop for your wedding day. The estate overlooks Dry Creek Valley, features three event spaces, and can host weddings for up to 200 guests. Peak season fees start at $1,500, with off-season fees around $1,000. Rental fees include a wedding coordinator, tableware, chairs, market umbrellas, service staff, and setup/breakdown. Catering is provided by the in-house Michelin star chef at an added cost.
