  We worked with Rod for our wedding and cannot give him enough praise. Rod becomes more than a photographer; he becomes a friend that truly wants to celebrate with you. From the first meeting, you’ll find Rod wanting to get to you know you as people, not just clients, and he really takes the time to understand what you want for your special day. It’s obvious he cares by the way he speaks about the past people he works with, and this care shows brightly in his photos and work. He really goes above and beyond. Rod took the extra effort to view all the areas where he planned to shoot photos before our big day and even came to our rehearsal to meet with our priest and coordinator. Most importantly, Rod’s photos are amazing and beautiful. He captures the candid moments perfectly, and the more staged photos are flawless and gorgeous. You can tell he has a passion for photography and is an expert in his craft. Rod also brought along Cliff for the day, and Cliff was also a first-class professional. We highly recommend to all the chance to work with Rod, and we also hope to get the opportunity to work with him again.

  Rod is the best. He is an experienced photojournalist with tremendous technical skill. We selected him after speaking with several photographers and our due diligence was well rewarded. He clearly loves his work and the results don't lie. He did our engagement photos and they were amazing. We have only seen a sneak peek of our wedding pictures but so far we are very happy with them and can't wait to see the full set. I would recommend Rod to anyone.

  Rod shot our wedding last October 2013. He and his second shooter, Barbara, were outstanding. I barely noticed them the entire day, but the photographs are breathtaking! They captured every emotion of the day without being obtrusive and in our faces. Rod was always just a phone call or email away, ready to answer any question I threw his way. He also showed up to our ceremony and reception site the day before the wedding to check the light and scout areas for our portrait photographs. He handled a situation with our priest at the wedding rehearsal very professionally (the priest did not want to allow him to stand at the front of the church to take photos of me coming up the aisle! He did eventually allow this, thank goodness!) We also had the opportunity to shoot engagement photos with him in May 2013 as well, which was great because it gave my husband and me a chance to become comfortable having our pictures taken! We had so much fun walking around Alexandria for those engagement photos and it showed in the images when we received them back! We received high resolution files for both our engagement session and all of our wedding photos as well as a "Love Story" video, proof book of our photos, and an online gallery to share with friends and family! My husband and I both agree that asking Rod to be part of our celebration was one of the best decisions we made on our wedding day! Thank you so much!

  We had such a great time working with Rod! He was referred to us by a friend of mine who is a wedding coordinator, and we couldn't have been happier. We found him to be affordable, and are so happy with the final product.
  
  Rod was super responsive throughout the entire process. He had some creative ideas for us. We actually were married on a Friday and had the reception on Saturday, both days Rod attended and captured all of our moments for us! He came to our reception site a few days beforehand to scope it out and get a better feel for the area and where we could get some great pics. When the day came, we really wanted a few pictures of us with our puppy and Rod worked great with getting his attention and all. We needed smaller group formal shots, as well as a few formal shots of around 35 and 45 people, and he figured out a great way to get everyone in the pictures. We were really happy with our formal pictures, those of the ceremony, he also did a great job capturing all the details of the day, got some great moments on the dance floor, and all of our friends and family enjoying the celebration.
  
  Rod was beyond helpful before the wedding, during, and even after. We have worked with him to get some of our favorite shots developed, picked one of the shots for our holiday card, and can't wait to make our album!

  ROD IS AWESOME!! My husband and I went to a Bridal Showcase for the very specific purpose of finding a photographer. There are so many out there these days, that you really need to LIKE the person you are going to be working with - a LOT. We liked Rod from the moment we met him. He was very friendly, outgoing, and clearly knowledgeable. Although you can custom-select your package, we opted for an engagement photo session and video along with 12 hours of day-of-coverage with Rod and his associate, Cliff, who was also amazing, the rights to our photos and an AMAZING proof book with all of your images. When I say proof book, I’m not talking some little book with thumb-nail images. I’m talking a LARGE, digital, hard-covered coffee table book with ALL of your images inside. The pictures are far from thumb-nail, but more like 2 x 3’s. Beyond the quality of the package, the value was far better than anything in its class.
  
  For the engagement video, Rod came to our home to shoot it, and then we went to the winery that we got engaged at for the pictures. He was super flexible, and worked around our work schedules, which we really appreciated.
  
  Day of, Rod came to the hotel to spend the morning with me and my bridesmaids while we were getting ready, while Cliff spent the time with my husband and his groomsmen. The pictures of the ceremony are awesome, and the reception pictures are wonderful, too. Both men were so easy to work with, not at all intrusive or bossy, and super accommodating. So many of our guests also commented on how great they were.
  
  The only thing I would like to mention, is that neither of these men take “cheesy” pictures by default. If there is something specific that you would like, just ask for it and they are happy to accommodate! We had such a great time with them and wish we could do it all over again!

  Rod is an absolute professional, with the eye of an artist, and the dedication of a friend. I would emphatically recommend Rod Lamkey Photography for any couple's wedding photography needs. Rod captured amazing images of our entire wedding at a value that is unmatched by other photographers. Our wedding album is a beautiful chronicle of the entire day's events.
  
  My husband and I debated how Rod could offer so much service at such a reasonable price compared to other major photographers (we looked at Freed, Rodney Bailey, etc.). Something had to give, right? Absolutely not, the proof was in the pictures. His work was just stunning. With his standard package including 12 hours, we had our entire event captured; from the moment I was getting my hair done to our final walk out of the reception venue. They caught events at our wedding that we did not even know about until we saw the pictures.
  
  When picking a photographer, my husband and I were very concerned about having a photographer that was too intrusive or would take us away from experiencing our wedding. With Rod's photojournalistic style, this was not a problem. He allowed the event to unfold naturally, without all of the staged moments that so many photographers require. We ended up with classic pictures without all of the "cheese".
  
  Throughout the process, Rod made us feel like our wedding was the most important thing on his plate. His dedication was just unbelievable. A few weeks after our engagement session (also part of his standard package), Rod called us to see if we would want to go back out for a second session. He had come up with a few new locations in Georgetown that he thought might make for some great shots - all completely free!
  
  My husband and I feel like we have gained a real friend in working with Rod on our wedding. That turned out to be critical considering he shared some of the most intimate moments of our wedding day with us. Rod really is too good to be true!

Rod was very professional and accommodating especially during our photos between the ceremony and reception. We felt very comfortable with him and he knew exactly what lighting effects would give us the most stunning photos.   Rod was wonderful, a great mix of experience and creativity resulting in inimitable photos. My wife is photophobic, but Rod's gentleness put both of us at ease. He's an artist!
