Emily Alyssa Photography

Emily was an absolute joy to work with. She photographed our engagement session (it was a surprise proposal for me!) in the most beautiful and natural way. She was relaxed and easy-going and made us feel very comfortable, which showed in our photos. When we received our gallery we were again filled with emotion because it brought us back to that special day. I am so incredibly grateful that Emily captured this special day for us— one we will truly cherish for a lifetime.

Wow. Just wow. We worked with Emily twice (previous review from engagement session below), but she totally blew us away for our small Oct. ceremony. Emily not only beautifully captured our day, but she was a brilliant conductor of leading where we would go, what shots needed to be taken, and where to pull from the best light. It was like watching an artist at work as she'd run from location to location to set up to get the photos we would cherish forever. Our families (not photo-fans) absolutely adored her and are still raving about how sweet and fun she was to work with. Emily worked hand-in-hand with Deanna and Grant Harrison of Harrison Films (videographers) and they made for the legit "dream team". Deanna and Emily advocated for us to have an earlier start time to allow ourselves to breathe during the day (despite my initial drive to just power through to cake) and boy, was that a good idea! I think my favorite moment of the day, however, was when Emily pulled me aside for my "grandfather shots". My grandpa had passed just before our ceremony and I wanted to recreate photos of us standing back-to-back with on of the trees on the property. Emily, having a similar loss before her wedding, understood completely and made sure to have me take a moment to just pause and have a "moment" with my grandpa's memory before rushing back to the festivities. The second to reflect is so rare in such a hustle and bustle of a day, but it's one of the moments I remember so vividly from our celebration. So chalk that up to Emily being expert photographer, entrepreneur, director, ring leader, and time stopper! We know we're not supposed to have favorites, but I have a feeling Emily will be our choice photographer for many years to come!

Engagement Session:
We love working with Emily! My fiancé and I were both a little nervous about engagement photos, but Emily made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. Even in the middle of Old Town Alexandria, we felt like the only ones there! Emily was so great helping us with outfit selection, posing, and answering every frantic email in between booking and our session (even in the midst of what is probably one of her craziest seasons yet and our pictures months/weeks away, we always felt like we were her top priority!) Our pictures are beautiful and we cannot wait to see her again in a few weeks for our wedding!

We love Emily! From our engagement photos, our intimate ceremony, our larger party, and designing our legacy album she was so easy to work with. The hardest part will be choosing what photos to put in your house because you will love all of them!! She is so much fun to work with and cannot wait to work with her again in the future!! Best decision we made for our wedding!!
