Invitations

When you address the envelopes for married couples, do you use first names (Linda and Sam Whitefield) or do you say Mr. & Mrs. Whitefield)?

Mr. and Mrs. (husband's first name) Last name ex: Mr. and Mrs. Sam Whitefield

The proper (formal) way is to address the envelope to Mr. & Mrs. Whitefield. I believe you can use first names with titles, but I'm not sure how it's done. It's up to you to decide the formality of your invitation. We chose to address our envelopes the other way (Sam and Linda Whitefield) because we wanted our invitations to be more casual.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Whitefield But when I did mine I realy didn't care how proper they were. So I did Sam and Linda Whitefield. But that isn't the most proper way to do it.

Oh and you want to be proper, it should say Samuel...not Sam

When I looked up the etiquette on line all the sites said the outer envelope should read "Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Whitefield" and the inner envelope should read "Samuel and Linda Whitefield"
