Can you call the cousins to see when they are getting married?

It's way too early to send save the dates. Save the dates usually don't go out until 6-8 months prior to the wedding. If you are worried about your cousins picking the same date, then I'd just give them a call and let them nicely know when your wedding is so they don't accidentally pick the same day.

I think sending out a text message/group chat to your family members (especially those who have recently gotten engaged), is a great idea. Fall is an extremely popular time to get married, so if you already know your specific date, it would be a great idea to give them a heads up so they don’t choose the same one.

I’d just reach out to the cousins directly. Just say you know they’re planning too and wanted to let them know you’d set your date.

We sent out informal save the dates because everyone was asking us about a date, but we also plan to send out official save the dates as the wedding gets closer because we are also getting married in September of 2026.

I think just sending out a save the date will be good enough, however since you still have over a year there is a good chance they will get married in 2025.

That happened to me with my sister….i got engaged last year in July and we decided to get married in September of 2025. My sister got engaged this year and will be getting married a month after me. It was hard for me to say can you wait until 2026?


I think the best way to go about it is to talk it out. Because me and my sister did that and we decided that when it’s about one of our weddings we focus on that, but it still gets to you thou.
But now one of my sisters friends is getting engaged next month and now she feels annoyed about it because her friend mentioned that she wants to get married next year to. So she kinda knows how I felt when it happened to me
