Cristina was super friendly and convenient. We placed an order with her way ahead of time and her cake was delicious. I didn't really have any idea what I wanted and she helped us find exactly what we were looking for. She delivered and set up at our location without any problem and on top of that the cakes were GORGEOUS!! We got many compliments from everyone and I definitely plan on using her for other events in my life. Also, super affordable!

Wedding Cake
We met with at least five cake vendors before making our decision. We felt really positive about Christina and enjoyed the taste of her cakes. We provided her a picture of the cake we wanted (topsy turvy) and we signed the contract. The day of the wedding it was at least 104 degrees outside. From the pictures that were shown to me the cake looked like it was about to topple from the moment it arrived. The majority of the cake weight was placed on the thinnest part of the bottom layer. Before the reception began the cake fell over. NO ONE was able to view the cake (isn't that the reason we have wedding cakes on display?) Christina returned to the venue and tried to preserve what was left of the cake. Unfortunately only four of the six tiers were saved and we had to interrupt dinner to cut and serve the cake before it melted. After the wedding we did not hear from Christina. When we finally contacted her all she could say was that the venue was too hot and that's why the cake melted. Our venue was inside a hotel. We had an ice sculpture next to the cake that withstood the "heat" the ENTIRE night. None of our guest complained about being hot. How do cakes withstand an outside wedding? The heat excuse was a cop out. She refused to reimburse ANYTHING! We paid almost $900 for a cake that fell apart before the reception started. Please don't waste your money. Choose another vendor. I would hate for anyone to go through what we experienced and not be compensated so the vendor's faulty product. I have pictures of the "Finished product" that Christina sent us, as well as the end product of the mess. Feel free to e-mail or message me and I will provide you pictures.

I would like to say thank you for taking the time to write a review. It’s important for future brides to hear from past clients and their experiences. It is also important for them to hear both sides of this unfortunate event. It was 109 with the heat index that day, and from the moment I entered the ballroom I knew it was far too warm. I immediately told your wedding coordinator of the hotel that they needed to cool the building and his answer to me was “We’re afraid the compressors will freeze if we turn it down”. That tells me that they have had issues in the past. This has never occurred in the almost 10 years of creating cakes. I structure my cakes to be very secure. When I received the call, I returned immediately to make any repairs that I could. You ordered a 5 tier (not a 6 tier) cake, and I was able to display a 4 tier cake. And when I was displaying the repaired cake, upon entering the ballroom I realized once again how hot it was. Your coordinator’s response was “It’s blazing hot”. As for the ice sculpture next to the cake, it was dripping profusely. For only being 2 hours into your reception, it should have still just been merely sweating. The structure of the cake or the means transportation is not at fault in this incidence. I have been delivering cakes all over the Metro-Plex for years. Going to Weatherford, Grandview, Richardson, and had several go as far as College Station & Austin. Never have any of them collapsed, fallen, or melted. I am the preferred vendor for many venues as well as event coordinators. This is my passion, and I deliver nothing but quality work.I would like to say thank you for taking the time to write a review. Cristina did a fantastic job with our cakes! They were the best for flavor & moistness that we'd tried (Plus the fondant actually tasted like fluffy marshmallows- sometimes hard to find!). I'm sitting here eating a piece of leftover cake that is as moist and delicious a week later as it was on the wedding day!
She was able to take my ideas and pull together something exactly along the lines of what I was thinking, while still maintaining creativity and helpful suggestions. The bridal cake was simple yet elegant (what I wanted) while the groom's cake (a zombie graveyard scene) stole the show. My guests couldn't stop talking about how great it looked!

I loved my wedding cake! I gave her a picture and she replicated it perfectly! Not only did the cake look amazing, it also tasted great and did not cost a fortune. We also had a groomscake, a cheese cake, and it was absolutely amazing! She covered the cake in chocolate fondant so it looked and tasted great! I highly recommend this vendor!

We are so glad we chose Cristina to make our wedding cake! She was so friendly and answered all of our questions to help come up with the perfect cake. It was the first thing I saw when I walked into the reception and I was so excited about how it turned out. It tasted wonderful too!

Cristina at A Slice of Life was wonderful! I took my husband to the tasting with me, and she was able to put together a variety of flavors for us to choose from and then helped us design the perfect cake for us. Multiple flavors & icings, mock layers, and a beautiful fondant overlay with silver sparkle dust that made the cake look absolutely magical in the candlelit room.
Beyond looking perfect, the taste was out of this world! It has been over a year since the wedding, and people still remember the wonderful cake... :)
