…you make lemonade? Stuff em’ in your bra? I think the whole point of that saying is that sometimes, life just doesn’t go as planned, and so you have no choice but to adapt and just roll with the punches. Right?
Here is what just happened in our world …. We found out on Tuesday, May 22 that Lotus Dude needed to have surgery. A couple of months ago, he had an outpatient surgery procedure done and we thought we were in the clear. Well, the damn infection never quite went away, and when he went for a follow-up appointment, was told he needed another surgery, this one more invasive — and we probably shouldn’t wait. The kicker? This surgery they need to do, would require eight weeks of recovery. With less than seven weeks to our original date of July 14th, we were faced with an incredibly difficult decision. We knew his health was more important and waiting until after our wedding, just wasn’t a safe option. So, we said a prayer, made a zillion phone calls and by 5pm that same afternoon — we had a new wedding date:

We feel so blessed and lucky that all of our vendors were available on our new date. I almost took it as a sign that we are meant to be married on September 1. How else could it all fall so perfectly together? I’m grateful that our wedding will still be exactly the way we had planned, just on a new day!
The first few days were rough, I’m not gonna lie. The stress over moving everything, contacting everyone, really threw me for a loop. Plus we were dealing with his doctors and trying to get his surgery scheduled ASAP, and well — I felt like I was on the verge of a Britney Spears type breakdown! Now, a week later, I’m much better. I’ve gotten used to the fact I’ll be a September bride. I ordered “change the date” cards and new RSVP cards and will be mailing those this week. I’m looking at the positives — September means cooler weather, we have a few extra weeks to save money and the absolute best part is that I will finally have a healthy groom! Because, that’s the most important thing right? Going through this, really forced me to step back and look at the big picture. We haven’t taken our vows yet, but those vows “in sickness and in health” really mean something! If we can get through this, we can get through anything!
So I’ll be around for another six weeks, hopefully I can find extra things to blog about in the upcoming weeks!
