Doreen & Chad

June 6

Paso Robles, California

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

When we first started dating, my first birthday present to Chad was a trip to Paso Robles to go wine tasting. We’ve been coming back to visit a few times each year ever since, so it felt just right to pick a venue in this beautiful area. We searched for dog-friendly venues online, and Hammersky was the first one we saw. It was love at first sight. We couldn’t have found a more magical place.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. The Irish wedding bell bracelets that everyone wore to ring in our marriage and reflect Chad’s Irish heritage.

2. Since I’m German, we did a traditional cutting of the heart. My best friend handmade the heart, and it was so fun to cut it as the first task we had to complete as a married couple and have our family and friends there cheering us on

3. Having every one of our guests be a part of our day. Some created the bouquet and boutonnieres, some helped decorate, Chad’s best friend was our officiant. It just brought it all full circle.

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding you can’t stop thinking about.

We are so happy we did the first look. The moment of first seeing each other away from everyone was just so special, and it gave us time to calm down and connect before the ceremony and really remember it. Going down the aisle, I was a crying fool and barely remember it, but the first look moment is unforgettable.

Dog is truly man’s best friend. Dog lovers around the world understand that from the time we open our eyes in the morning until we lay down to go to sleep at night, our lovable pups fill our hearts with unconditional love. Why not include your perfect pooch in your big day plans?

Want to include your little tail-wagger in your wedding party? Why not make him or her the flower girl or ring bearer? This is a charming spot for your pooch and a wonderful way to get them involved in the day’s activities. Attach this rustic burlap and lace ring pillow to the back of your dog’s collar and watch them strut down the aisle in eco-chic style!

Give your pooches plenty of healthy and organic treats throughout your special day! Baking homemade, eco-friendly biscuits is super simple and a surprise your pups will love!

Blend simple ingredients like organic flour, pure oils or fats, and peanut butter, creating a doughy texture, just like baking chocolate chip or sugar cookies. Next, roll the dough into a 1/8 thick sheet and use cookie cutter to separate into different shapes. Bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Allow the cookies to cool completely before sharing with your furry friends!

Leave bowls of fresh, cool water for your pets all day long to ensure they stay hydrated. Pick up a few vintage bowls from a thrift shop or use things you already have and refurbish them yourself for a fun DIY one-of-a-kind look! If your wedding day is coming up quick and DIY isn’t an option, consider using bowls made out of all natural materials like bamboo or coconut. These bowls by Our Green House are eco-friendly and appropriate for any wedding theme!

Fashion your pups with colorful, comfy and chic collars and leashes for your special occasion!  This eco-friendly hemp and fleece combo collar and leash will be the perfect accessory for your pup. Available in a variety of fun colors like persimmon, pear or plum, these sustainable colors can work to fit any accent colors you shoes to outfit your special day.

Today’s wedding styled shoot features a super-cool couple and lots of swoon-worthy, bright details. You can’t miss the pops of pink, blue, and purple in the tablescape, creative “Sweet and Salty” dessert display filled with peanuts and sweet tarts, and the adorable ring bearers. Have a great summer weekend!

Elegant Backyard Summer Wedding in California

Josephine & Erick

August 11

Belmont, California

From the photographer:

“Josephine and Erick are a soft-spoken couple, who reside outside of San Francisco. They are the proud parents of Bodie; probably the cutest French bulldog/ring bearer ever. Their wedding was held at their own home overlooking the hills of Santa Cruz. With the help of their coordinator, Yelena Johnson, they transformed their home into the elegant venue that it became on their wedding day. Guests were seated at two 24 foot dinner tables, and during dinner, they were pleasantly entertained by a slideshow movie of the bride and groom while feasting on local cuisine and wines.

The bride and groom chose to host their wedding at their home because their wedding day wasn’t just about celebrating their own marriage but also about celebrating friends and family. And they couldn’t think of a better way to do that than to welcome them into their home. Not just welcoming physically but welcoming them into the union of their life. Of course, having the wedding at home meant their French bulldog Bodie and his sister Bella could join too!

Everyone dined underneath the stars, and they ran in and out in between courses, crowding the kitchen island bar for celebratory toasts. They danced the night away in the dining room while overlooking the bay from the terrace.” — Jaime Viera, Viera Photography

Including your pet in your wedding party has become a popular trend these days. It has become so popular that there are even personalized bow ties, collars, leashes, and ring bearer pillows made especially for dogs. However, it’s important that you make sure your ceremony site allows pets before you decide to include them in your wedding party – or buy these adorable accessories. You might also want to talk with your bridal party and see who would be willing to walk your furry friend down the aisle – as much as we love our pets we don’t want to be distracted from saying our vows!
