Our Q&A with the Bride:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

We were immediately swept away by the breathtaking garden at the Willowdale Estate. We always knew we wanted an outdoor wedding, and the concept of getting married in a lush garden surrounded by tall pines, butterflies, and hummingbirds took our breath away. The estate’s interior was also perfectly renovated. Despite being a historic venue, it is very polished and sophisticated with carved wood details, gorgeous dressing suites, and a full service kitchen. The staff of the Willowdale was top notch from the moment we first toured the grounds through the day of our wedding.

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

Hand painted cake toppers (done by myself!) in the likeness of my husband and I were a perfect touch to our cake. My husband and I are musicians, so we loved our sheet music guest book that we purchased through Etsy. Also, I became obsessed with my floral/feather/crystal  fascinator; also purchased through Etsy.

If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

Focus your efforts on three key things that matter most to you on the big day. For us, it was a great music, gorgeous flowers, and an open bar. The other elements will fall into place – so have fun with them, be flexible, don’t sweat the small stuff, and enjoy the planning process!

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

I’ll never forget the moment that Ryan saw me for the first time during our first look. The Willowdale has a dreamy boardwalk that wraps around a small lake, and that’s where he was waiting for me facing the water. The walk down the hill to where he was standing was so tranquil and romantic – all I could hear were the birds singing and the rustling of the trees. When he finally turned to me, the look on his face was so touching – the kind of look that only comes once in a lifetime. We’re so happy to have found one another, and lucky to have the wonderful family and friends that shared in our magical day.

Brewster, Massachusetts

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

  1. After our rehearsal dinner, we invited everyone to a casual bonfire on the beach.  It was a great night because we were able to relax and catch up with people we haven’t seen in years!
  2. Our ceremony was held on the front lawn under a large oak tree that was beautiful but the best detail was that I was able to get ready in a room overlooking the front lawn.  We were able to see everyone arriving at the wedding and the guys walking in while we waited.
  3. We spent 6 months making and bottling homemade limoncello to give as favors and everyone loved them!

If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

Christy: Don’t rush the planning because everything will fall into place and don’t stress the small things on your wedding day because no one will notice they were missing at the end of the night.

Doug:  Enjoy the planning because the actual day goes by so fast and looking back I enjoyed it even more because I stayed involved in the planning.

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

We decided not to see each other before the ceremony which made seeing each other for the first time during our ceremony such a special moment.  We will both remember that moment forever!

Molly & George

January 28

I am incredibly excited to share Molly and George’s wedding. Molly is part of the WeddingWire team (and has been long before she was planning her own wedding!), so this feature is special in so many ways (beyond the fabulous details and venue). Words do not describe how amazing these two people are. Their love is infectious, you can even catch it by just watching the video and looking at the pictures below. I will leave it to their adorable video clip, by Jeff Brouillet Films, and their breath-taking photos, by The Feds Studio, to showcase just how magical this day was. Molly and George, we are beyond happy for you, and wish you so much happiness on your journey together! xo

Tara & Keith

October 14

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Tara, who competed in the Miss America Pageant as Miss Maine 2007, has a smile that lights up the entire room. Strikingly gorgeous, Tara’s look was glamorous and chic with glittering accents that added a perfect pop of glitz. Tara’s warm heart was definitely a family trait- throughout the day her family each took turns tearing up, overflowing with love for her. Her dashing husband to be brought his own sense of style to the wedding day with a hand rolled cigar station at their cocktail hour that was enjoyed with much celebration. Tara & Keith’s ceremony was originally planned outdoors, but harsh rains forced it inside. But with the beautiful glowing candles at every turn, the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club made their indoor celebration warm and inviting. As soon as Tara & Keith sealed their love with a kiss, the skies opened up long enough to photograph on the gorgeous croquet lawn and beach front of The Wequassett. Inside their reception, a fresh take on a nautical theme transpired to celebrate one of Tara and Keith’s first dates aboard Keith’s boat. A gorgeous couple inside and out, this wedding was cozy and effortlessly glamorous.
