The Lounge Vibe

Posted by jwimer on Mar 23, 2011

In the land of weddings, what is more hip than a vibing lounge area at your reception?  David Tutera, Preston Bailey, and other great event designers set this trend in motion, and now caterers and event planners all over the globe are creating amazing event scapes that take the concept to the brink!  I asked members of the International Caterers Association to share some of their favorite set-ups with us…and WOW!

Interior Inspiration

One of my favorite things about watching design based television shows are the concept boards…you know…when the creative designer pins up little photos of furniture, paint swatches, rug or tile samples, and other decorative elements so that the client can get a sense of their vision.  Well by now you have been inundated with bridal mood or inspiration boards, that showcase your colors, the flowers you are attracted to, the dresses or accessories that you love.  But for some brides compiling all of those elements can be daunting and overwhelming, especially if you aren’t exactly sure where to start or what will most reflect your vision.

A Foodie Proposal!

I am, and always have been, a sucker for a good love story.  You name the romantic classic, I have probably seen or read it.  I can never walk through a bookstore without visiting the bridal magazines to check out the fluffy, frilly confections of wedding gowns, and the etheral decor shots of lush florals and lavish tabletops.  And above all…if it involves scrumptiously crafted food…I. AM. IN. LOVE.

That said, when my friends at Esprit Events in New York City shared this adorable proposal story with me that centered around an intimate cooking lesson with Chef Guy Vaknin, I. MELTED.
