Ashleigh and Christopher were married at Hickory Street Annex in Dallas, Tx. “We loved the rustic look with all the windows overlooking the Dallas skyline,” Ashleigh said. “The venue gave us a lot of DIY opportunities, which was something else we were looking for too.” Prior to the ceremony, the couple opted for a first look. Ashleigh walked up behind Christopher only to surprise him in her sweetheart lace mermaid wedding gown, accessorized with a bright bouquet of pink dahlias, peonies, and succulents. “It gave us alone time, and a moment to get all the jitters out,” she said. Aisle markers donned biblical virtues such as “love never fails,” while centerpieces sat atop burlap table runners. The best advice, according to the bride? “Be sure to take a moment during the reception and take a mental picture of everything — guests, decor, weather, and food!”

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

Caleb and I went to a friend’s wedding at the Harbor on Possum Kingdom Lake in May of 2010 and absolutely fell in love with the venue. {Their wedding was actually the first wedding to be held in the chapel, which made it even more special.} The chapel was breathtaking, the scenery was gorgeous, and the reception on the lake was a perfect fit for us. When we left that weekend, we both looked to each other and said, “We are getting married here!” After we got engaged May 24, 2012, this was by far the first and easiest decision for us both. We knew we wanted a fun and laid back wedding, one that was memorable for us and for our guests. What we had in mind was a romantic, rustic-themed wedding and the Harbor venue offered the best of both worlds.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. The Harbor Venue and Cabin Accommodations: The Harbor venue offered the indoor-outdoor atmosphere we were hoping to find for our wedding day. We were able to set up a tent and dance floor where the band performed and all of our family and friends got to enjoy the night dancing, singing and having the time of their lives with us! The Hide-Away Cabins were wonderful accommodations for our families and our wedding party. They were super close to the venue, and they offered lots of fun activities to keep everyone entertained for the weekend.

2. The Band: Identity Theft Band brought the party to life with their upbeat music and fun personalities. They played a mix of country, pop, rock and oldies. The dance floor was crowded all night long!

3. The Flowers and Centerpiece Arrangements: The flowers and centerpiece arrangements were put together by Bows and Arrows with the help of our amazing wedding planner, Britney Ratto of  RSVP Events. These ladies were the masterminds behind the wonderful eclectic, romantic, and rustic look that I had hoped for. The collection of bud vases, mercury glass votives, old wooden crates, old frames, burlap and lace were all used to create my dream wedding.

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding you can’t stop thinking about.

The kiss was by far the most magical moment of the night. Caleb swept me off my feet and took my breath away. Literally! {This was not planned by the way, so thank goodness we didn’t both go tumbling down to the floor.} We were surrounded by our amazing family and friends, and we were finally Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Hopson. It was a perfect moment that we will both cherish forever.  A huge thank you to our amazing photographer, Derrick Tribbey, for capturing all of the details and special moments throughout the day!
