Sarah and Dane were married at Mercury Hall in Austin, Texas on November 9. “We loved the Hill Country feel without ever having to leave the center of Austin,” Sarah said. The bride wore a capped sleeve a-line wedding gown with a lace bodice and tulle skirt, accessorized with her hair in an updo, floor-length veil, jeweled sash, and a pair of peep-toe high heels, while the groom wore a light gray suit, accessorized with a navy blue checkered button-up shirt and tie. Bridesmaids wore short purple chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of roses, berries, scabiosa pods, and seeded eucalyptus. “Getting to see each other for the first time,” she said. “We decided to do a first look before walking down the aisle so we could have a moment to ourselves. It was great getting to show off my dress and telling Dane how stunning he looked. Such a perfect, private time to be goofy and settle any last-minute nerves or jitters.” Once the exchanging of vows were sealed with a kiss underneath the giant oak trees, it was official, almost 125 witnessing. Cocktail hour began with mini beer churros on donkeys followed with the reception shortly thereafter. Guests were escorted to their seats via animal figurines. Tables were decorated with white linens, gray napkins, birch wood centerpieces, vintage books, and mason jar candles, surrounded by folding padded chairs. “The food was absolutely amazing, and the same caterer did our cakes as well,” Sarah said. “The groom’s cake was a total surprise to Dane. It was so fun creating it with the caterer and even better getting to see the surprise on Dane’s face when he saw it.” A three-tiered buttercream-frosted cake topped with fruit was cut and served concluding dinner. Fun fact: the other one was a replica of a scene set in the wilderness! In lieu of a favors, donations were made to Heifer International, University Catholic Center, and Christian Veterinary Mission. “We broke out to Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ halfway through our first dance,” she said. “We had been practicing for weeks, and it turned out perfect. Everyone was so surprised.” The newlyweds’ best advice? “Hire a wedding planner!” Sarah said. “Even if it is just the day of stuff, you don’t want to be stressing when you’re tyring to focus on preparing for a marriage. Ours was fantastic, and helped us out so much. We were totally stress-free when the day finally arrived.” At the end of the night, they exited amongst a sea of sparklers and jetted off to their honeymoon.
Ali and Liam were married at Bluefield Farm in Blauvelt, N.Y. on July 19. The bride wore a short lace wedding gown with an illusion neckline, accessorized with a curly updo and fingertip-length veil, while the groom wore a tan suit, accessorized with a tie. Her bouquet featured roses, dahlias, and thistles. Guests were greeted at the ceremony with the most colorful, handmade garland backdrop.”One of my best friends sang La Vie en Rose as I walked down the aisle, and it was gorgeous,” Ali said. “Another good friend from Argentina was supposed to do a reading (about friendship) during the ceremony, but when she came up to do it, she was so overcome with emotion that she literally wasn’t able to do it. After trying to read the first line a few times and not being able to stop crying, she just hugged us both and went back to her seat. It was incredibly touching.” Following the outdoor nuptials, lawn games such as cornhole, bocce ball, croquet, and ladder toss. The reception took place inside the barn. Tables were decorated with burlap runners, milk glass jar centerpieces, heart-stamped kraft paper placemats, and s’mores favor bags at each place setting. “The pulled pork from Dinousar BBQ, who catered the wedding, was delicious,” she said. The newlyweds’ best advice? “It’s worth the effort to personalize your wedding and make it your own,” Ali said. “It’s A LOT more work, but it makes the whole event more meaningful.
Megan and Dino were married at Billingsley House Museum in Upper Marlboro, Md. on July 5. “We absolutely loved that it was outdoors with a stunning view of the Patuxent and Potomac River Corridor,” Megan said. “The trees, water, and house created a beautiful backdrop for our photos. Plus, our guests were free to move about the property.” The bride wore a halter a-line wedding gown with beaded embellishments on the corset bodice, accessorized with a pair of silvers strappy high heels, while the groom wore a gray three-piece suit, accessorized with a solid bow tie. Bridesmaids wore navy blue dresses in various necklines and hemlines and carried bright bouquets of orange roses and purple bells. “Our four-year-old Pomeranian was able to be apart of our ceremony and reception,” she said. “From her face on the table numbers and our donations to ASPCA in lieu of favors.” Megan’s favorite moment? “See Dino’s face as I was walking down the aisle.” Following the nuptials, cocktail hour began with their signature drink – peach sangria – and striped straws. Tables were decorated with do-it-yourself martini glass centerpieces filled with gems atop silver platters. “The one piece of advice I would offer is to not over think things,” Megan said. “I quickly began to have ideas and wanted to add this and that, but my groom reminded me not to overwhelm myself or our guests. Simply to keep things simple, and when I listened to him, it all came together great. I could not have ask for a better day.” There even was a dessert display complete with Hershey’s kisses, butter mints, Russell Stowe’s chocolates, and lollipops.
Alexandria and Travis were married at Old Hill Farms in Rock, Ga. on September 14. “It was just breath-taking,” Alexandria said. “We loved how peaceful and quiet it was.” The bride wore a taffeta ball gown with a pick up skirt, accessorized with an ivory sash and fingertip-length veil, while the groom wore a white button-up shirt, gray vest, and brown suit pants, accessorized with a patterned tie. “My wedding day was more than I had ever dreamed of it being, so I always reflect back,” she said. “My favorite moment of the day was my soon-to-be husband’s reaction the first time he saw me in my wedding dress.” During the ceremony with 100 of their closest family and friends, the flower girls in tutus and floral headbands carried a “here comes the bride” sign down the aisle. The reception’s decorations were all handmade! From the burlap table runners, silverware holders, and yes, even the centerpieces. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Make the day as special as you are as a couple,” Alexandria said.
Lisa and Christian were married at Little Brown Church followed by a reception at Golden Road Brewery in Atwater Village, Calif. on August 10. The bride wore a silhouette strapped a-line wedding gown with floral cutouts on the hem, while the groom wore a seersucker suit. To fit their casual theme, bridesmaids and groomsmen chose their own outfits! Bouquets and boutonnieres featured peonies, dahlias, roses, and orchids. These two nature-lovers walked down the aisle hand-in-hand to say their “I do’s.” Following the ceremony, guests arrived at a local pub filled yummy vegan foods, craft brewed beers, and lawn games galore. They were also asked to consider helping rescue a research chimp or saving an animal shelter. Favors were bags of “seeds of love” to plant. Can you guess where they went on their honeymoon? A 2-week safari to none other than Africa!
