We hope everyone had a happy Fourth of July and enjoyed the holiday weekend! This week on the blog, we’re talking summer wedding food! We’ve broken down the menu and rounded up some of our favorite seasonal fare for each category. Let’s start off with some delicious summer wedding appetizers!
Shrimp Cocktail – we love the idea of serving shrimp in chilled shot glasses with a bit of cocktail sauce!
Summer Salad – mix seasonal fruits like peaches, plums, melons and berries with fresh greens for a light, tasty starter.
Oysters – fresh raw oysters chilled over ice make a perfect seaside wedding hors d’oeuvre.
Sliders – hold guests over with bite-sized versions of this summertime classic.
What hors d’oeuvres are you serving at your summer wedding? Let us know in the comments!
The day that Richard and I were sitting in a trends session at a recent Catersource Convention and the moderator from LA stated– “You will begin seeing a real return to comfort foods in your wedding menus, and we aren’t talking about your mama’s ‘easy mac’,” we thought he was crazy. Mac and cheese at a wedding? But honestly….it has happened and in a BIG way. From appetizers to small plates, comfort foods have come to town and a wedding near you.
Enter such homey, comforting things as “sips and savories,” which concisely stated are little soup shots with a mini grilled cheese sandwich. Yummy, cute, and always gobbled up at events. Basic or with a gourmet flair these comforts fit the bill…dress up the soup with a wild mushroom Gorgonzola bisque in the Fall, or a petite brie, caramelized onion and fig grilled panini.
