My Favorite Registry

Posted by bridalbuds on Feb 07, 2011

Registering is really fun. I’m sure there are brides out there who don’t like to register but, man, I just don’t understand that.  I like to shop at pretty much any time but registering is essentially shopping without spending money! Can we say best of both worlds?

Lovebug and I have been registered at Macys for a few months now but not with many things.  With such a long engagement we were doing things in spurts when we felt like it.  Well my wedding checklist recently told me that it was getting down to the wire to finish up our registries!  So we went out this weekend and registered at our second location: Pottery Barn.

When picking where to register, we took a bunch of things into consideration.  I want to be considerate to my guests and register for things in varying price ranges and not too far away.  Having considered this, there is a Macys close by and Pottery Barn under an hour away.  The one thing I wanted to make sure was that we didn’t register for anything really crazy that we knew we didn’t really want or need.  This is sometimes a hard thing to accomplish as it is SO easy to get caught up in the fun of picking things out! Lovebug was a little uneasy at first with choosing Pottery Barn because many of the items are pricey.  But I looooove me some PB and so he relented.

Lo and behold he got just as caught up in the fun of things as I did!  I had the most fun registering at Pottery Barn! We both loved picking out things and being able to envision what our new home will look like decorated with those things! Registering at Macys was good too, but the Pottery Barn experience was so much more fun! I think it’s because we focused this registry more on decorating while Macys is more kitchen related. I kid you not, I was so excited about this registry that I woke up the next morning still thinking about!

Lovebug and I definitely reeled it in and kept things pretty standard budget-wise.  We didn’t register for any crazy furniture (although I’m sure we would both love to own it!).  But this is the only time we’ll get a wedding registry so we should have some things we’re just crazy about.  Mission accomplished!

It’s important to remember who’ll be buying for you when making your registry but also to let yourself indulge just a little.  That was my motto anyway!
