Centerpiece Indecision

Dahlia Dude and I are getting married in a movie theater. And although I’m not a huge fan of overly themed weddings, I do like the idea of incorporating some aspects of our daily lives (Dahlia Dude is a film writer, and I have a degree in film) into our wedding. Less about theme, more about our interests.

I was having a hard time coming up with budget centerpiece ideas that were eco friendly, somewhat on theme, and not cheesy. There are dozens of websites for Hollywood themed Prom’s that have kid appropriate ideas such as plastic Oscar statues, and blow up film reels.

And then, I found ebay. Oh ebay. Where else can you find vintage movie cameras like this, for $10?

So I’m thinking of having these on the tables, and I’m not sure what to do if I can’t find 18. I’m also thinking that somehow, they have to be elevated. Any ideas? Some kind of thing to lift them up and make them more of a tall, showstopping centerpiece. I’m thinking of buying some old film and using it as ribbon.

I also found some vintage film canisters to use for the table names and menus. 16 for $4!

Total table top is going to be cheaper than originally planned, and much cooler. The florist was going to charge me $50 each, and I’m now thinking I can manage for about $25 a table, and I can sell them again on ebay after the wedding. Eco friendly.
