Bridal Market Spring 2012

Guest Post By: Anne Chertoff

It’s the time of year again! Designers from Anne Barge to Vera Wang will show the bridal press and bridal salon owners their latest designs.

So what does this mean for brides? Bridal Market is similar to Fashion Week in that the dresses on the runway will be available next season. Some designers will call their new collection Spring 2012 and others Fall 2012 but anything shown over the next few days will be in bridal salons between January and April 2012.

One of the first market appointments was the debut collection of Dennis Basso for Kleinfeld. The line featured classic ball gowns, figure-flattering A-lines and sexy mermaid silhouettes with a wide range of embellishments including lace, beading and several boleros for brides looking for added coverage.

The ball gown shown here was one of my favorites — an illusion bodice embellished with hand beading and embroidery with a tulle skirt — as a romantic yet daring look for the modern bride.

But there’s a chance you can get a sneak peek! Designers and bridal salons may offer a special trunk show of the new collection in the coming weeks, so if you see something you like email the designer or your local bridal salon and ask if they are planning one and book an appointment.

WeddingWire will be attending all the shows, posting reviews of each one, writing up trend reports as well as the top dresses of the season. Check back daily for photos of each collection — we’ll be uploading them to our Wedding Gown Galleries too!
