About
Born and raised in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley, Lori Swadley has always enjoyed immersing herself in the beauty of the sights around her. Her love for creating beautiful images turned into a professional career when she became involved in the fashion industry. Photographing models allowed her to use unconventional angles and editing techniques to convey the emotion in each image.
Photographing weddings and portrait clients in their natural environments is her new passion, yet she still incorporates her modern fashion-inspired style in each project she works on.  Her husband, Jon, creates a different point of view taking a step back to capture those moments that we tend to forget all too often & way too soon.  Their wedding photography has taken them to numerous locations along the East Coast, and they hope to gain more destination clients as their business grows.
Jon & Lori Swadley work hard to give you the most unique images of your wedding day.  The story they will create for you will become your first family heirloom, and they strive to make each creation as beautiful as their own wedding album.  They are known to bring a fun & relaxing feel to your wedding day, and go out of their way to be unobtrusive so that you may enjoy it to the fullest.  Visit their blog to get to know them better!

Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
We retouch EVERY image of your wedding before you even see them... that means that when you see your proofs, you are seeing the final product! If you would like images retouched further, we will gladly honor that request.

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
We have experience in all kinds of lighting situations, from candlelit evening ceremonies to super-hyped up night club lighting bouncing off the walls of a reception!

Is your media preference film or digital?
Digital

How many photographers do you work with?
1-2 per wedding

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
We only book two weddings per month so that we can give each of our clients personalized attention!

Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
We have several photographers that we can utilize if we were somehow unable to attend your wedding. This has never happened, and it would take something very extreme for us to not attend your wedding.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
Our vehicle is packed with everything you could think of in case it is needed. We always carry backups around with us throughout the day, in case something decides to stop working at the last minute! Also, we bring a variety of off-camera lighting to assist in any challenging lighting situations that may arise.

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Absolutely!

Do you charge hourly or full day?
Packages start at 6 hours, with an option to add hours to any package.

Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
We are always available your entire wedding day in case you need us to come earlier or to stay later. We charge $200/hour if you request us for more time than is agreed upon in the contract.

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
None, unless requested by the bridal party or parents of the newlyweds. If we do sit for a moment, we stay wherever we can see the bride, groom & dance floor, so that we are always looking out for an opportune moment that should be documented.

Do you charge for travel?
Driving distance: $75/hour for any wedding that is over an hour outside of zip code 22655. EXAMPLE: Annapolis, MD would be an additional $75 for the day since it is an hour & a half away from 22655. If flight is required, couple only pays airfare for two & one hotel accomodation for two nights. We can book the travel, or you may do so, whichever you are more comfortable with doing.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Since re-evaluating our client's needs, we are now only accepting 20 weddings per year. This has dropped our turnaround time to only 2-3 weeks. This is because we correct each & every image that we take at your wedding. We are not a "shoot-and-burn" business that just gives you images straight out of the camera. We want to make sure you LOVE your images, so we take a little extra time & care into the processing.

In what format are the initial proofs offered?
Online proofing for all clients for 90 days. We offer proofs on CD, DVD, a proof magazine or actual 4x6 photographic prints in an archival storage box.

How long can the client keep the proofs?
All purchased proofs are yours to keep!

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
Yes, but all packages include a DVD of Hi-Res files for your own printing needs.

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes, but if you are uncomfortable, you may request to not have them published.

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes, in every package.

Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes, all images are posted on a gallery on Pictage, the leading source for Professional Photographers for viewing & ordering online!

What kind of albums do you offer?
We offer Coffee Table, or Storybook, Albums in a variety of formats, and we also offer the more traditional matted albums. We use top of the line vendors to give you a quality product that will last a lifetime.

When will the client get the final album?
6-8 weeks after you approve the final proof.

Tips and Advice
Make sure you like your photographer!  If you don't click with him or her, don't sign.  This person will be with you your entire day of the biggest day of your life. Also, make sure you LOVE the images that they produce.  Not just "like", but LOVE.  You will be looking at these for years to come, so make sure you know that your photographer will produce the kind of work that YOU want.  You'll know it when you see it!

Oh... and don't be pressured into anything!  Always sleep on it before making a choice of who you want to go with!
