The photographs of our engagement session came out great. Matt has been incredibly professional and easy to work with throughout this process. Not only has he proven a great resource, but he is incredibly flexible (our first location for the engagement shot was closed due to the triathlon, but Matt was able to change to a new location that morning and already had ideas for pictures). We are looking forward to seeing the photographs from the wedding!

While Matt was capturing photos on our wedding day, we both couldn’t help but think, “He’s great to work with, and seems like he really knows what he’s doing- but how will the photos look?”

Matthew is an excellent photographer, totally beyond my expectation. I am so glad to have him as our wedding photographer. I am from Hong Kong, and my husband is from Taiwan. In respect of our cultural background, we decided we want to do a mix of traditional Chinese and contemporary American wedding.

On our wedding day, he came fully loaded with professional gears, traveled with us to 4 different locations to take pictures for door games, 2 Chinese tea ceremony, outdoor park pictures, 1 American ceremony and Chinese reception. Our wedding was a really busy day. Matthew stayed fully energetic the whole day, had some interesting posing ideas, and also he was open-minded & flexible to do whatever & however we want. He even didn't mind to stay longer outside of the contract hours to make sure every photo we wanted were all covered & taken; he wanted all his clients/customers happy & satisfied. :) Moreover, he thinks outside of box, I was amazed when I saw him bringing a step ladder when we did the traditional chinese table greetings and group pictures. That way, he could have more guests and more actions taken in the picture. His passion was on fire during my wedding reception even some of my friends ask me where I get him.

Before we came back from our honeymoon, we got email from him that all our wedding photos are ready. It was unbelievable, in less than a week, and we were provided with about beautiful "2,000 photos" from our wedding day. He gave us all digital negatives, every good photo he took from our wedding days. That is one of our best gifts we got after we came back from honeymoon, took us hours to look through all wedding photos. I love all my wedding photos, and I would highly recommend Matthew to people looking for wedding photography services. He is so open-minded that he can work around with people from different background with different wedding traditions. And, he even can speak a little bit of Chinese too. :)

I think the only way it's likely that there'll be a better wedding to cover will be if it's in Hong Kong or Macau.

Photos looked great, even though it rained. Matt was able to capture our rather spontaneous first kiss, and helped us to look our best, just like we asked him to. I was really surprised by the ring shots- they looked like they had been taken for an advertisement!

We hired Matt for a photo shoot off the beaten path.
We are glad we did this. Matt loves the outdoors. He is not afraid
to get dirty (while we stayed clean) to get a better shot. He is
very enthusiastic. He has a keen eye for good shots, like a fallen tree
or the sun shining just right through a bunch of leaves. He also has
a sense of humor and is very professional. Love his work and the
final outcome. I recommend him to all my friends.

Matt's photos turned out great! He was punctual, captured both lots of great candids and the "gotta-gets" after our ceremony. I especially liked the fact that he made our venue look better than it really was.

Matt provided an onsite consultation at no charge, and was willing to accept the numerous examples of images I liked from my Pinterest. He was respectful to my church's request to capture the ceremony without causing a commotion. We particularly liked his sense of humor- it was an added bonus!

We were a little disappointed with the lack of bridal party shots we were able to get between the ceremony and reception. Most of this was because of limited time we had slotted between the venues but part of it was because of set up. I wish that Matt had an assistant with him to help with that.

Regarding the lack of an assistant- you are 110% correct. Having one makes the bridal party and family formal session go much smoother. As an independent photographer, I have one at EVERY wedding I book on my own.

But when I covered your wedding in 2012, I was working through a low-cost agency which does not allow photographers to bring one because that is one of the ways they keep their prices so low.

This was a major factor in my going independent- the couple receives coverage DONE RIGHT, with no corners cut. I meet with the client on-site at no cost well before the wedding- (I did this for you as a personal favor, even though the agency actively discouraged me from doing so). When brides book with most independent photographers (at least a true professional), the images are edited so that you look your absolute best. That’s the service that every bride deserves.
