I am SO FRUSTRATED!
I paid my alterations woman to bustle my train, take in the overly-large top, adjust the straps, and place cups inside the dress so I do not have to wear a bra. I went in today for my (supposedly) third and final fitting to discover that after paying this woman a LOT of money, there is NOTHING done. She claims she took it in, but I cannot find a single seam as evidence. The bustle is not right--it's one less than I asked for. And worst of all, she tightened the straps so much that they cut into my back and I had trouble lifting my arms as if I were dancing.
When I asked her why she had the straps pulled so tightly and pointed out how my skin blobs over the straps (I am pretty physically fit), she responded, "Well that's just your body. You're squishy back there." When I asked her to loosen the straps and take in the top more, she claimed it was impossible. She said the straps were responsible for holding the dress up and close to my body. I feel completely suckered out of my money.

Is the seamstress hired through your dress shop? If so, talk to the store manager and advise them that the dress Must be fixed. If not, then you'll need to handle matters directly with the seamstress. If you paid with a credit card, you can advise her that you'll dispute the charges for not delivering. Another option is to take another person in with you to try on the dress and advise her what can be done and How it can be done. I hope this helps, and I'm sorry you're going through this headache.

I did bridal alterations for years and still do them for my local brides. She is giving you BS. If the gown fits you in the waist the straps do not have to be so tight. The straps should not be what is "holding up" the dress.
I agree, if you are having alts done through your bridal shop, talk to the owner or manager. Bridal alterations can be quite complicated and sometimes "tweeking" is necessary. She needs to let down the straps, take the sides in more, and add bustle points. Looking at the date of your wedding she has plenty of time to make it fit properly. Good Luck.

Wow I'm so sorry! That's a really horrible thing to have to deal with on something as important as your wedding dress. And a good seamstress makes the fit perfect, so nothing is ever squished and blobbing out, even if you weren't as fit as you are! That is serous BS and she's trying to pass the blame off of her. I just had my first fitting and they had to take it in soo much I am worried about how it will come out, your story scares me! The bottom line is that you are paying her and she should do the work until you are satisfied.
