Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
With the technology available now the possibilities are endless. All of the images that are selected for an album are retouched, enhanced, and custom printed. Blemishes, stray hairs, blinks, exit signs are no longer a problem.

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Since we do not live in Southern California. I have learned to be prepared for all types of weather and lighting conditions.

Is your media preference film or digital?
Digital photography allows me to take the images to another level. Plus, I can see the results as I am shooting and make the appropriate adjustments. And it is more practical in todays electronic world.

How many photographers do you work with?
For every wedding I am accompanied by at least one assistant photographer.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes, without question.

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
Rarely, and only if the wedding day timelines do not conflict.

Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
In 10 years I have never missed a wedding. However, I am friends with several pro photographers in the area, and we all agree to cover for each other in the case of an emergency.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
I use the Canon EOS digital system with a full array of lenses.

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes.

Do you charge hourly or full day?
Full day, unlimited time. I don't want to miss anything.

Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
Not applicable

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
One or two and only when circumstances allow.

Do you charge for travel?
Only if the wedding is outside of the Greater Washington, DC Metro Area.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
3 to 4 weeks after the wedding.

In what format are the initial proofs offered?
Website with an option to purchase 4x6 proofs.

How long can the client keep the proofs?
The 4x6 proofs may be purchased as a complete set.

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
Yes.

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes, but I also seek the clients approval.

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
The digital files may be purchased as a complete set.

Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes.

What kind of albums do you offer?
Custom designed coffee-table albums and traditional matted albums.

When will the client get the final album?
3 to 4 months after you make your selections and place your order.

Tips and Advice
On your wedding day, the photographer spends more time with you than any other vendor. Therefore I feel it is important for the photographer to develop a really good rapport with the couple. With all of my packages I offer engagement portraits that are taken well in advance of the wedding date. This gives us a chance to get to know each other better. It also provides me an opportunity to learn what angles and expressions are the best. Overall the comfort level is much greater when the wedding day is not the first time we have worked together.
