"What legal requirements are necessary to get married in Paris?"
In order to be legally married in France, the biggest obstacle for most foreigners is that one of the couple must be a legal resident in the district in France in which they plan to marry for a minimum of 40 consecutive days. Apart from that, there is also a host of additional paperwork which must be filed and submitted in order to be allowed a French civil ceremony. You are also not allowed a French religious ceremony without first having had a civil one.
Because of the above restrictions, many of our clients who come from overseas choose to have a civil ceremony in their home country, followed by a religious blessing or symbolic ceremony here in Paris. These celebrations allow couples to have all of the glamour and romance of a destination wedding, without getting tangled up in the (unromantic!) red-tape.
