Founded in 1927, our unique waterfront property offers rustic charm with modern amenities designed to make your day special. Nestled in Virginia's Western Highlands of Bath County and surrounded by the George Washington National Forest, Mont Shenandoah offers numerous acres of fields and woods with waterfront access to the pristine mountain river, The Cowpasture. If it is a beautiful, rustic and pastoral setting you are seeking, come to Mont Shenandoah. We can host weddings for two to two hundred in one of our board and batten, Adirondack-styled buildings, under a tent in an open, grassy area, along the banks of the emerald green waters of the river or tucked away in one of our many nooks that has a river view.
The Feed Bag, the camp’s delightful dining hall, has a full commercial kitchen, hand-made wooden tables and benches, a large, hand-built fireplace made of river stone and a wrap around porch with sunset views of the river.
West Lodge, the camp’s spacious recreation hall, is ideal for an indoor ceremony or reception with its open dance floor and large stage.
We offer a selection of lodging options for you and your guests. Plus, there are many nearby inns and hotels, including The Homestead Resort.

Camp Mont Shenandoah was the first place that we checked out when we were looking for wedding venues, and after walking the grounds we didn’t look at any others.Sent on 06/23/2018
It was very important to us to find a place where we could have friends and family spend an overnight together—so often weddings fly by and we wanted the opportunity to maximize the time we spend with those that are important to us—and the cabins at Camp Mont provided just the rustic, summer camp experience that we wanted to share. In addition, we chose to rent the beautiful Cabell Cottage and the Pill Box to provide us with accommodations that had large beds and air conditioning for the families of the bride and groom and those who came with young children.
Everyone at the camp was wonderful to work with and we felt at home while we were there. We chose to have the camp itself do the catering and they provided a number of delicious dinner options, a brunch the next morning, and even a hot dog lunch for everyone on the second day after spending the morning and early afternoon hanging around camp and down by the river.
The venue was beautiful—we got married in a green grove by the river—the dinner was cozy in the Feed Bag, and the dancing was a blast in the West Lodge. We got lucky with the forecast, but with the covered space in the West Lodge we did have a back-up plan just in case.
To say that the weekend was perfect would be an understatement. We have continued to get positive feedback from friends and family and have heard over and over that it was, “the best wedding!” If you are looking for an outdoor venue or a place to do an overnight experience, Camp Mont Shenandoah is a wonderful place to do so.
