Arlene graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1992, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Managerial Economics. Her business began in 1993 after she completed a training course with The Association of Certified Professional Wedding Consultants in San Jose, CA. Arlene received her certification in 2011. She is an active member of The ACPWC ( www.acpwc.com ) and is the Mentor Program Director.

Best decision we could possibly make!!
So glad we went with Arlene for our wedding coordinator. I am the type of person that likes every detail planned out and written down so I don’t forget and Arlene helped us make a timeline that was exactly what I wanted. She helped keep us on track and make sure we didn’t over look anything months before the wedding. We had a Christian Indian wedding so we have a lot of traditions both during the ceremony and at the reception. Luckily, Arlene was the wedding Coordinator for our close friends as well who also had the same traditions as us so she actually knew more about our traditions than we did after doing their wedding which was extremely helpful and time saving for us because we didn’t have to do as much research. The day of the wedding was very hectic behind the scenes, but Arlene and her team were there to take care of everything so that everything went as smoothly as possible. We could not have done this without her and highly recommend her. She is very detail oriented and punctual and just an overall great person to work with especially for those of us who stress out easily because she has a very calming personality. Hiring Arlene was one of the best decisions we made! She is incredibly meticulous and detail oriented person. She made sure everything went on time on our wedding day and involved every single member of our bridal party. We got so many compliments on how organized everything was..our wedding was an Indian wedding with 450 people plus with many traditions..Arlene took the time to learn and understand our traditions..she met with us several times and was available for conversation via email, text, phone call and in person. On the day of the wedding we didn’t have to worry about a single thing. From setting everything up to making sure everything was returned back to the original people, Arlene handled it all! Also I have to mention I am from Houston TX, and didn’t know any vendors out here..Arlene provided us with a great list of vendors to chose from and offered her expertise and advice..she even looked over contracts with us! "TL;DR" version: Arlene is the best!
We are so grateful to Arlene Marcos for helping us throw a wonderful wedding reception this October! Brian and I were legally married in a small civil ceremony last August, but we waited to have the big, laid-back celebration with family and friends until this year. Once the honeymoon was over and 2018 began, we were overwhelmed by the prospect of planning such a big event. Neither my husband nor I are great at planning (nor organizing, nor keeping on schedule), so it made sense to hire a wedding planner to help take the stress out of our wedding reception. When I looked up local event planners on Yelp, “Ah… New Beginnings” had high ratings and great customer reviews. Once we met Arlene for the complimentary consultation, I knew we were working with a friendly, experienced professional. I like how quickly she embraced our non-traditional vision for the event (a beer hall theme), as well as all her helpful vendor recommendations (from venues to food trucks to florists) and money-saving tips. Thanks to our decision to book “Ah… New Beginnings” this February, 2018 was a lot less stressful/overwhelming than it could have been. It wasn’t just her advice on vendors and the detailed timeline she came up with leading up the reception; Arlene was a lifesaver the day of the event. Unbelievably, our beverage provider tried to deliver the drinks to the venue over an hour before our delivery window, when no one was there to receive them, let alone access the venue. After a confused call between me and the delivery person (who begrudgingly agreed to take the delivery back to the store without any offer to redeliver our order at the agreed-upon time), I reached out to Arlene. At the time, I was about to have my makeup done by my maid of honor and my husband was getting ready himself. I was stressed out just thinking of who could possibly pick up our drink order from the store and deliver it to the venue, let alone deal with the frustration of communicating with the store and the delivery person. Arlene was amazing in dealing with this situation; she immediately took over. When we showed up to the venue, the drinks were all taken care of and everything was going smoothly. It wasn’t until after the reception that we found out that Arlene herself had driven to the store, gotten our delivery fee back for us, loaded up her Honda Fit with our order, and delivered it herself to the venue!
Awesome, right? And that’s not even getting into the fact that we had to find a replacement band/musician for the reception on short notice about 10 days before the event (our friend’s band was going to play for us, but their bassist suffered an unfortunate injury). Arlene was great in that she kept in close touch with all parties, suggested solutions, rolled with the punches, and kept track of all the changing details. I’m happy to say that Arlene helped us pull off a fun wedding reception that our guests really enjoyed, and the best part is that her trademark attention to detail allowed us to just relax and enjoy our special day!
