which leg does the garter go on

hi i wasnt sure on which leg to put the garter on can anyone tell me i was also looking to see if anyone knew were i could get some form of a joke thing to put with the garter so he would get to that first something good i need help please getting married nexted saturday

Not that it probably matters, but I've only seen the left leg used, and that's what I did.

I have photographed many weddings, and i have seen the garter on both legs. But 80% of brides have their garter on their left leg. Hope that helps, good luck and best wishes! Smiles, Allison Evans Fairytale Moment

I actually researched this because brides always ask me when I'm shooting prep shots. Either leg is OK.
