Have you checked out the wedding wire planner? Also if you google search you will find many low cost or free planners for the DIY bride. First things first is your budget. Know how much you have saved for your wedding. Then use a good budget planner which will help you to determine how much you have to spend on each part of your wedding from the dress to the venue. Good Luck to you both

Hi There,
I am a wedding planner and here is my advice: figure out your budget, then book your venue, caterer (if needed) photographer, entertainment, florists, cake, dress, invitations...in that order. Good luck and congratulations!

I'm not a wedding planner, but if you are totally lost in the process, I highly recommend you at least talk to a planner. do not think of a planner as an extra expense. They actually SAVE you money by watching out and taking care of you. Here's my blog with some examples: http://cateritsimple.blogspot.com/search/label/band

I don't know if you are getting married in a church or how far out your wedding is, but don't forget about the Officiant. I book weddings more than a year out, and it is actually suggested that you secure your officiant a year out.
Best Wishes

Budget and what you want your wedding to look like. Then just as Champagne said book your vendors next.

I'm a wedding planner. I agree with Debbie. The one thing I will stress, though, is to get your venue booked right after your budget is all figured out! That will be the thing that will book up quickest and be most disappointing if you can't get it for the day you want. Have the date (or if you're flexible about that, you have a better chance of getting it) and call the coordinator at the venue. Obviously if your wedding is on a holiday or some other busy time of the year, it's got to be booked AT LEAST a year in advance in order to get space there. You can always find planning guides in book form, which I've found most helpful, at the library to check out, which have step by step details.

My suggestion, as some have already said, get your budget together first than book your venue as this will take up most of your budget than the rest will be divided amongst your dress, photography, florist, Dj etc...
Happy Planning :)

Budget and guest list two of the most important things right now, once you have that you can start planning for the venues, cake, invitations, photographer, dj or band, centerpieces. Decide on who you want in your wedding. all this is not in exact order, but you get the idea. If possible, try and have a consult with a planner who can help you through the rough spots and give you ideas on how to get started. Working couples benefit with a planner who can help with everything or just DOC and even partial planning. It is our job to make it as stress-free as possible. If you feel a planner is not right for you then by all means do your homework and take advantage of help when offered.
Good luck and make sure you have fun doing it!

I think I will hop in here and agree venue is #1! Then photographer, DJ, etc etc. You have to know where you will be having your wedding to be inspired to plan/decorate and let people know where they will be working that day :)
Good luck!
