Breakfast the day of the wedding ??

Kimi K, on February 9, 2012 at 10:49 AM Posted in Planning 0 29

I'm now onto the final little details of the wedding. Everyone always says "The bride never gets a chance to eat on her wedding day!" Well, I get really sick when I don't eat enough so I'm going to have to avoid this trend. (If I don't there's a strong chance I'll pass out at the alter) The timeline is looking mighty busy since it's a 2pm wedding so lunch is out of the question but a big breakfast will do just fine.

How will you all make sure you had a good breakfast the day of?

I will have no makeup on so eating a restaurant is out of the question. Room service is rather pricey, should I find a catering place and do a few platters or should we do a to-go order from a local restaurant?

I JUST had this conversation with my BM - i suddenly realized i hadn't thought of breakfast either!

i am going to pick up a box of bagels and cream cheese, get some OJ (with champagne of course), and maybe some fruit. I'll pick it up the night before. Could you do something that you could pick up the night before?

of course we are having a morning wedding - so this is all in an effort to wake up at 6am not 5am

If room-service is definitely out of the question then I would find a local restaurant that either offers a to-go option or delivers to your hotel.

Since FH is not staying in the same hotel as my BMs and me we are planning to have breakfast poolside. I've also tasked each of them to carry snacks that day. Since everyone keeps saying they will ensure I have a shot or two eating is a must for me too.

I like that idea of catering or to go. Maybe have some protein shakes in the fridge to for the afternoon.

I'm in a little tricky situation since I'm having a DW and I'll be staying in a suite. (unsure if there's a fridge separate from the minibar) My mom & moh will be arriving at the suite around breakfast time so I may have to make them pick something up on their way ;o)

Kimi same problem - hotel room. i think i'm going to pick up a small cooler (one that easily stashes behind a bed when the photographer arrives) to put cream cheese and OJ in.

having your mom and moh pick it up sounds like a good plan!

Imho, just spend the money on room service. It is your wedding day! It makes more sense than adding an additional stress and possibly passing out.

I absolultely made sure I ate breakfast. Lunch is the one I missed. I paid for that dearly.

For Cate, I will make sure she has a full breakfast when she wakes up and I am bringing wraps to where they are dressing so all of the BMs eat while they have their hair/make-up done.

@RWC: We're picking up a small cooler for the wedding day - that's an excellent idea to have one in the room for the day of!

@Carole: The hotel we're staying at is rather pricey, breakfast for 3 would be ridiculously $$$$. We plan on doing a room service breakfast the morning after (what will be our anniversary)

With as busy as the day will be around lunch time, I doubt I'll have time to eat so a big breakfast will be the perfect meal to hold me over till dinner time :o) I also have to be sure FH eats - I may send him breakfast and a little note the morning of before our familes take over.

I just saw your new comment about the food cost. Your best bet then may be a dennys/ihop pickup. If there is anything like that around the hotel, call the order in and have someone pick it up.

I'd make sure you pack snacks...I had snack packs for myself, my girls and all my vendors that included candy bars, chips, water, granola bars and fruit snacks...they were a total life saver.

We were lucky and stayed at a hotel the night before where they had an awesome continental breakfast. My girls and I all ate there before we headed to my mom's house to get ready...however, my mom also went to Einsteins Bagels and got an assortment of bagels and muffins for everyone that was getting ready at the house...which also helped curb the appetite since we ate breakfast around 7am.

I'm going to pick up fruit and pastry platters the day before. Remember to stay away from salty foods! They make you bloat!

    Good thinking Soontobe!

Knowing how nervous I will be I can't imagine eating too much :o) Snacks are a good idea.

If I can afford hotel rooms (I'm not certain I will, but IF I do) then I'll probably have breakfast at the hotel with my bridal party.. otherwise I do want to go somewhere to eat the morning of, just to relax and get energized before everything starts to turn chaotic.
If you're in a hotel, they usually have full breakfast bars or a continental breakfast at the very

least (that wouldn't have to be ordered to your room)

Otherwise the fruit platters and pastry platters would be fine.

I'm staying at my parents place and my mother already mentioned that she was going to pick stuff up like muffins, juice, etc to have and also to bring to the salon while everyone is getting ready.

FH and others are staying at hotels that serve continental breakfasts, so don't have to worry about him.

@Jen - I wasn't going to do a hotel room for $$ reasons, but I kept an eye on Kayak.com and other travel sites and I snagged a really nice hotel room for about half price. Just an idea if you are thinking of going that route.

I was talking about this too! We will probably have mimosas for sure Smiley laugh

I know that I really want to make sure that everyone, especially my little one eats.

I am going to make a list of everything that needs to be there in the hotel!

As for suggestions, why not make a yogurt parfait? Something light and healthy..
