I had recently moved from my hometown to the big city since I was offered a job.  I had been living in the big city for about two months when a friend invited me and some other friends to a Halloween Party on October 31, 2008.  It was at this Halloween Party that I meet Chris.  We started talking and hung out the whole night.  At the end of the night we exchanged phone numbers.  The next day we started texting each other to see if the other person was free for a real date.  Both of us were free the next night, Sunday, November 2nd.  So, we meet to go see a movie, 'Zack and Miri Make a Porno' (my suggestion, but he agreed on it).  From that night on we started dating on a regular basis, seeing each other as much as possible. Tragedy struck my family on January 15, 2009 when my only sibling, my younger brother committed suicide.  It was completely devasting and very unexpected.  In the aftermath of it, Chris dropped everything to be with me and my family.  He took a week off of work, came back to my hometown (a 5 hour drive), meet all my family and friends and stood strong through the whole thing.  If I had not had him there I could not have made it through it. A couple months later, at the end of March 2009 we moved into together and have been living together since then.  In the almost 3 years of being together we have travelled to the west coast of Canada numerous times, Arizona and Seattle; celebrated Christmases, birthdays and other holidays with each other and our families; laughed, cried and loved each other. The big proposal was a complete surprise to me.  It was Sunday, October 9, 2011 (Sunday of the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend).  At our apartment there was ourselves, my parents, his parents, his sister and her fiance over for Thanksgiving dinner.  After we had eaten dinner and dessert and had finished watching the hockey game (stereotypically Canadian), Chris asked for the TV to be muted and called me up in front of everyone.  He told me we had been together for awhile, that he loved me and couldn't imagine spending his life without me.  He then got down on one knee, pulled the box out of his pocket and asked me to marry him!  I of course was completely stunnned and surprised, but managed to say YES!  We hugged, kissed and then all of our family congratulated us. We are now in big planning mode.  We are getting married in my hometown (my parents still live there) on August 11, 2012.  Alot of the planning is being done through emails and phone calls with the occasional trip down there.  I look forward to marrying my best friend and creating a new family for ourselves.
