    Such a magical venue!

The Lodge at Bear River was such a magical venue for our wedding! Our photographer was able to capture amazing photos throughout the wedding and reception. There is a river that runs down the rear of the venue allowing many amazing photo opportunities. Callie was very helpful with helping us get our big day sorted out. The inside of the lodge was very spacious and had such rustic charm with a cozy atmosphere.

The best venue for my mountain wedding

This venue is out of this world! It is in such a romantic and beautiful setting. Callie was great to work with and very responsive. The day-of-event staff members (Misty, Mike, and Owen) were absolute rockstars as well and so friendly. I will never forget them. Everyone was in awe of the amazing staff and beauty that surrounds this venue. Look no further than the Lodge at Bear River for your wedding.

    Relaxing & Stunning Venue

The Lodge was the perfect venue for our September wedding. You can hear the river from the outdoor ceremony location and it is the most relaxing sound. They light a fire pit for you and your guests too. Callie is also wonderful to work with. She was so kind and helpful. I definitely recommend using the Lodge for your wedding.

    Gorgeous and perfect wedding venue

The Lodge at Bear River was the perfect place for our wedding. Callie, Dave, Misty, and Mike went above and beyond to make our rehearsal and wedding day wonderful and smooth. We fell in love with the trees, river, fireplaces, and coziness of the Lodge. Plus having access to the Lodge all weekend made set up and clean up easy. I highly recommend the Lodge to couples looking for a romantic atmosphere for their mountain wedding.

    Stunning Venue!

The Lodge is absolutely beautiful! We got married this past weekend, surrounded by fall leaves with about 50 of our closest family and friends. We were supposed to get married outside but it ended up being too cold, we had to move it all inside. Honestly, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. We got married in front of the big fire place and it looked stunning. My new husband and I got compliments on how beautiful the venue was from all of our guests. One guest shared that when they drove up on the lodge, the sun was shining through the fall leaves and it “took her breath away” it was so beautiful. This venue was budget friendly, everyone was easy to work with and so kind. Callie was warm and welcoming and her assistants were eager to help and genuinely excited for us. Also, the mountain has several rental properties, so most of our guests were able to stay on the mountain and close to the venue! We had the most wonderful and beautiful time. I highly recommend this venue.

Beautiful Mountain Venue by the Riverside

Two things in particular made my wedding day amazing. 1) My handsome groom. 2) The decision to have the wedding at The Lodge at Bear River.

The beauty of the area can’t be described in words. With the lodge nestled up against a background of NC mountains, it became the perfect outdoor retreat for a wedding. The pictures we got were gorgeous, and there were many places to get a good shot.

My husband and I met each other at a whitewater kayaking event in North Carolina. So it was important to me to find a river in the backdrop, but I had no idea how lucky I got with the Lodge! Family and guests took time to explore the nature nearby, and it gave me a sense of peace with all of the chaos that goes along with your wedding week. The space was perfect for our 90(ish) person wedding, even with the drizzle we got at the end of the night.

Lodging for guests was easy with the assortment of B&Bs, vacation rentals, and camp sites close by. Many guests and the wedding party staying in nearby cabins. This was a great choice for us!

The Lodge itself should be reason enough to choose it for a wedding venue, but if that didn't make your choice easy, than Callie certainly did. Callie helps organize the Lodge as a venue, and she is fantastic. One of the sweetest people I have met and she was a great help during wedding planning. She even has an adorable B&B close to the venue!

All-in-all, I am so happy with the way our wedding turned out. It couldn't have been possible without the Lodge at Bear River to make the day special.

I can not express how amazing our wedding was this past weekend at The Lodge at Bear River. The entire experience with Callie was just a pleasure and made wedding planning a breeze! The Lodge is beyond gorgeous and really resembled something out of a fairytale! Our guests raved about how gorgeous the setting was and how we could not have found a more beautiful location! The entire experience exceeded our expectations! Setting up and breaking down the Lodge - Misty and Michael went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect! They were so attentive to making sure we had everything we needed and things were where we wanted them placed. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Callie, Misty, and Michael! You truly made our wedding the most unbelievable day of our life and we can not thank you enough for everything!!!!

I cannot even begin to express what a wonderful venue this was and what amazing people Callie and Dave Wellendorf are! The Lodge is located in a breathtaking location--it's nestled in the mountains and the autumn colors were just beautiful. Inside, the venue is rustic and gorgeous and it was absolutely perfect for a small, intimate wedding. It can accommodate much more than our 42 guests, and we didn't use nearly all the space. What's more, RiverDance, Callie and Dave's bed and breakfast, is just up the hill and it was awesome getting to have our family stay so close to us. Callie is extremely helpful and kind and she went way beyond what she had to to make my day special. I will never forget how she found my missing bridal bouquet! This place is absolutely magical and we cannot imagine having our wedding anywhere else. From the bottom of my heart, I can't thank Callie and her husband enough for making everything so memorable.

This venue is gorgeous, but we had a few problems working with Callie. It was the perfect spot for our small 30 person wedding. We got married on the stone patio under the rustic arch surrounded by the mountains. We took pictures down by the river. We ate outside under the long covered area on the stone patio and we danced the night away inside! You can't see any other houses from the venue itself. It feels private and secluded, but it isn't far from Asheville and downtown Hot Springs. (although, there is bad cell service for communication) The downside is that it is also a clubhouse for a very well off gated community (which is beautiful). We were frankly a bit scared to touch things. Callie had me worried about people setting wet classes on certain tables, sitting on the wrong piece of furniture, or going up the stairs. We originally wanted to use the pool table to play poo; It was a small casual wedding. We wanted the older folks to be able to play a game while the youth danced the night away. The day before she said "no, that is a $6,000 pool table." We politely agreed and said we would put the pool sticks in the closet so no one would use it, but that we did not want to cover it with the provided tablecloth because it did not match and was a bit ugly. Well, Callie was so worried someone might sit on it, place something on it, or use it that she physically TOOK the pool sticks with her. This was a wedding of mature adults; we certainly didn't feel trusted. Callie also kept approaching me, the bride, with questions the day of the wedding. Trying to take pictures of me and my guests and approaching me with questions while I was trying to enjoy our big night. I had previously introduced her to my sister and mom and instructed that she please contact them the day of, not me. She made me feel frantic and like I was doing something wrong for no reason. The professionalism could be worked on a bit. Overall, We had a wonderful wedding at a gorgeous venue!

The Lodge at Bear River's reply:

Feed back after a wedding is extremely valuable for any wedding venue, as there are always ways to improve a brides, and bridal parties experience. So, let me address some of the concerns expressed. The pool tables value is accurate, but perhaps to much of a point of discussion, between myself, and this wedding party. The Home Owners Association policy has always been that it is not available for a wedding party to play pool on which is clearly noted when the lodge is toured. Also, the HOA have made it policy that pool sticks and balls not be made accessible. These should have been secured far earlier in the day but was not taken care of in a timely fashion. Per the bridal's parties request the custom table cloth which was placed over the ping pong top, that sits on top of the pool table, was removed.

Apologize if too many questions were asked, and not directed to the right person. Simply trying to help. Where questions are to be directed is usually asked, but will be more cautious in this regard for the future. Also, as far as pictures go, permission is requested ahead of time. Permission was given, but perhaps the pictures taken were felt to be too intrusive over the course of the festivities. This is an area that will be approached with more caution.

Recognition was given as to the beauty of the lodge, and it's setting. Indeed, these elements are what make The Lodge at Bear River such a magical place to have a wedding.
