Hawk & Hawthorne

Our wedding at The Hawk & Hawthorne was an absolute DREAM and I highly recommend. We had our first look at the heart spring, our ceremony up at the Ritual Hill and reception in the open air barn. We stayed the night in a brand new yurt on the property which was so beautiful and peaceful.

We chose to have our wedding at the Hawk after attending many other events prior and falling in love with the land and feeling connected to its mission. From the very begging (over a year ago) they have been extremely supportive throughout the wedding-planning process, and I owe a ton of gratitude to their venue coordinator, who was super helpful answering all of my questions, available for in-person walk throughs of the land, video calls, you name it - they were available and responsive and kind throughout. The entire experience felt personal and highly attuned to our needs, and I feel that is something uniquely special that they provide over other venues.

The venue itself and spirit of the land is pristine... ideal for an outdoor wedding with many locations for pictures. The barn is spacious for 100+ guests. There is a special nook for live musicians, a built - in bar, and full catering kitchen, ample parking etc.

Overall we felt very "at home" having our wedding at the Hawk, and that feeling is something that will live in my heart forever. The flow of the day was seamless, thanks to their epic crew. It was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined.

The Hawk and Hawthorn is by far and away, one of the most spectacular venues in all of Asheville and the surrounding areas. I attended a wedding this October, and was blown away by how beautiful and well tended the land was. The fall foliage, the flowers, the decorations, the sunlight during the ceremony - absolutely stunning. The staff was incredible! Everyone we interacted with was so kind and supportive. The venue was stunning, tons of color and personality. The land has this incredible energy to it - everyone was having such a great time. I particularly loved the gardens, walking around and hearing about the permaculture farm. The spring water was delicious! The forest trails and stone circles gave us enough space to walk around and enjoy the day in its entirety. The venue also hosts amazing concerts like Rising Appalachia, so they had an incredible sound system! Loved kicking off my shoes and dancing amidst the fireflies and under the stars. If you get the opportunity to visit the Hawk and Hawthorn, I would highly recommend!

My partner and I got married at Hawk & Hawthorne in April of 2025. Ours was the first wedding after Hurricane Helene. The moment we walked into the "barn" (which is really more like a rustic gazebo nestled in the breathtaking surrounding mountains), we knew we had found our place. The staff was fabulous. They had lots of work to do to clean up after the hurricane. They did not disappoint. We used their recommended decorations person who did the barn, guest tables, catering tables, the path up to the ceremony space and the ceremony space. Since she works with them regularly, she knew all the ways to make the place look magical. They were flexible and cooperative with us and our external caterer. They don't nickel and dime and you can feel that this is much more than a business. We could feel how much they cared about making our event special. The property is on sacred land and H&H honors and respects the sacredness of that land. It is a highly spiritual place. If that is something that aligns with your values, I highly recommend H&H for your wedding. You and your guests won't regret it. Many of our guests told us this was the most beautiful wedding they ever attended.

Working with the Hawk and Hawthorne staff was wonderful. The land there is gorgeous and they have multiple beautiful options for marriage sites. The barn was a spectacular outdoor setting to dine and dance in :-). I love Michael and Rachel's mission and vision of caring for the Earth and building community. Hawk & Hawthorne was the perfect venue for our wedding. The heart-shaped pond was such a beautiful setting for our ceremony!
Michael and his staff were very professional and accommodating and went out of their way to be helpful.
We looked at much more expensive venues in town that didn't have nearly as much charm or rustic beauty.
We would highly recommend them for your wedding!

My partner and I had our handfasting/wedding in the barn at Hawk & Hawthorne.

The space was overflowing with magik. Michael was so kind and easy to work with. Attentive to all my needs while simultaneously giving me space to create the container I wanted without a 'hovering'.

I would recommend Hawk & Hawthorne to anyone looking for a beautiful barn & farm venue.

I enjoyed having the barn as the ceremony space as it was acessable for all guests while the land was large enough for people to go for a stroll when they wanted to.

The entire team at the Hawk & Hawthorne was truly truly fantastic. From the second we got on the property to the moment we left, I was SO happy I choose this venue and the team. Rachel and Michael were so supportive and worked with us on making our vision come to life. The entire staff TRULY went above and beyond. We had a not so awesome experience with our planner and the Hawk team stepped up and added so much value it was wild. One of the team became my impromptu DJ at one point... (like I said, above and beyond). I am so grateful for the team! Now.. on to the space. I think I dreamed up the property because it was truly one of a kind. From the natural flowing stream with fresh water, to the heart shaped pond (which is not at all cheesy ha!) to the amazing views... it was just epic. Plus so many spaces in the area are a bit more cookie cutter, and this one was truly unique. For anyone looking to embrace the natural beauty of Asheville and be supported by the most gorgeous land and crew of heart felt humans, this is the spot.
