Set on Grelen Nursery's 1000-acre tree nursery in Somerset, Virginia, The Market at Grelen is a magical wedding venue offering rural simplicity at its most luxurious. It has gorgeous 360-degree views and was lovingly designed to emphasize the surrounding natural beauty. Perfect for the creative party planner, this verdant venue features a variety of event spaces so that couples can make their special day their own. Located in Central Virginia between the sweet towns of Orange & Gordonsville, Grelen is only 35 minutes north of Charlottesville, one hour west of Richmond, and less than two hours south of Washington, DC.

Facilities and Capacity

The Market at Grelen can handle weddings up to 250 but we consider 150-200 our "sweet spot." The Shade Garden, Half-Moon Garden, Berry Field, and Greenhouse can all accommodate ceremonies of varying sizes. Cocktail hour options are countless but the Blue Ridge Patio, Pergola, and Shade Garden are some of the favorites, with the option to book both together. The gorgeous Orchard Overlook tent with its clear top is perfect for the reception and the Magnolia Cottage houses two brand-new large get-ready suites.

Many Grelen couples rent one or both of our two rental homes (Boxwood Villa or Spotswood Lodge) for lodging. These spaces can also host smaller events surrounding the wedding such as rehearsal dinners and brunches. They are both within 10 minutes of the main venue and add a bit of magic to a wedding weekend. The nearby Depot has three smaller event spaces and a two-room luxury suite. All three of these properties host weddings too.

Included in the venue fee are plant material for decor, round tables, garden chairs (150), bamboo folding chairs (175) or crossback chairs (175), banquet tables, tent lighting, sound, and a few barrel bars. In addition, the property has plenty of parking, shuttle access, and wheelchair access. The Market at Grelen will be ready to welcome you and your guests.
