Howerton + Wooten made our wedding day absolutely perfect! From the start, their team was professional, attentive, and genuinely cared about our vision. Words cannot define the worth and joy it was to have Kawania and her team be a part of my wedding day. We started working together about a year before the event. She was a constant advocate for our needs and budget throughout the process, being realistic at every turn.

I did not appreciate her team talents until I went to other weddings where they were not so blessed to have Kawania as a team member and wedding planner. What I know now is that what you get with Kawania is experience and know-how of the industry. She has planned several weddings and events before and knows how to troubleshoot mishaps that may happen on the wedding day in real time. She also understands that the day of the event is a special moment for everyone involved and she knows not to bring stress to the wedding party and to allow them to live in the moment. At subsequent weddings, I have felt that my friends needed this approach with their planners on their wedding day/weekend. I, being their guest or in their bridal party felt the disorganization that their planners or self-planning brought. This was not the case with Kawania. We had glowing comments about our wedding day for even a year after and how it was not just a ceremony but a day of entertainment.

I also appreciate that the team at Howerton/Wooten Events rose to the challenge of dealing with a culture that was not her own and thrived and making sure that our Liberian/Sierra Leonean and Nigerian wedding was a perfect blend of our backgrounds. This also included dealing with some of the cultural elements of our family and expectations at the ceremony. She should be trusted with any wedding from West African nations. We gave her guidance and she delivered.

It was also refreshing to understand that she is an excellent communicator. We had regular meetings throughout the year, about once a week. I have seen my friends have wedding planners who do not get back to them for several days after they have a question about their wedding. Kawania brought my vendors to me instead of me having to look for vendors on my own and when one did not work she always had another one that could take the place. She even set up meetings with me and my vendors one-on-one so that I would feel comfortable with them before signing the contracts. Additionally, since she is so experienced at event planning reviewed all of our vendor contracts to make sure that we were getting a fair contract and that expectations for the vendor and for us were both reasonable and what we were looking for. She suggested more than a few amendments too!

Being a very busy working professional I appreciated that Kawania went above and beyond to make sure that I stayed on the schedule and was extremely patient when there were moments when I could not. I value how she brought my vision to life and had such great attention to small details that my day was exceptional. I have seen my guests feature elements of my wedding at their subsequent events and it speaks to how she was able to set the bar high for what a classy and unique event should be. Far beyond a wedding planner, she has become someone that I keep in contact with after the wedding. She even checked in on me when there was a major catastrophic event that took place in the area where I lived months after the wedding.

There were even moments when I became uncertain or stressed and focused on the wrong thing when it came to my wedding. Kawania, quite like a mother figure helped me realize what my focus should be and to ignore all other distractions so that when I walked down the aisle, I was in full confidence of how the day was going to be and did not feel a single ounce of stress on my wedding day.

I could not be more thrilled to work with Kawania again. Although I do not see myself getting remarried I would certainly work with her for any big event I needed in the future. She has such a positive energy and global about her and brings a light to every interaction even difficult ones that makes her pleasant, respectable, dependable, and all around the absolute reason why my big day went off such success. I cannot state how tirelessly she and her team worked so when I did meet them in person but felt like I was meeting friends who knew exactly what I wanted. You will not regret working with Kawania and Howerton + Wooten events!

They were prompt, professional and helped us make sure our days was wonderful. My husband and I were able to enjoy our day. My family and friends were also able to enjoy all the festivities because the H&W team had us covered. I highly recommend the for you wedding or special event.

The Howerton-Wooten experience was truly special. I expected a planner to manage logistics of my wedding. What I got instead was such caring service from Kawania, LaShonda, and Marlo every step of the way. I only had a vague vision of what I wanted for my wedding and they were able to take a small concept and run with it to build the wedding of dreams I didn’t even know I had. I felt way out for my depth when I first started planning and so I got the full service and I will say it was worth every cent. The team is experienced, thoughtful, and so collaborative that I was the least stressed bride I know. They work with the best of the best vendors in the industry and I was able to be at peace and present during most of the planning and especially the day of the wedding. My husband and I will never forget being taken such good care of and we can’t wait to hire them again for all our life events!

Howerton+Wooten Events assisted with the planning and coordination of my dream wedding. Kawania and her team was nothing short of AMAZING! While I was referred to other wedding planners I knew the moment I met Kawania her company would be the perfect fit. From day one they were attentive, supportive and professional. They were open to my non traditional ideas and went above and beyond to bring my vision to life. Her team had a way of making you feel at peace during what is typically a very stressful day for many brides. They were so organized I woke up the day of my wedding knowing everything was going to be taken care of. All of my guests were blown away by how orderly and professional her team was. The communication, attention detail and care they put into making my day special was evident as my wedding ran so smoothly. I’m not sure who is the bigger genius: the professionals at Howerton+Wooten, or ME for hiring them!! When my now-husband and I had our first call with Kawania, we knew immediately that we had found our team captain. Kawania radiates warmth, expertise, knowledge, and understanding and those values are reflected throughout the H+W Events organization. Kawania created a bespoke package and experience that reflected our needs and our budget. She was a supportive and grounding force as she helped us design our wedding before another member of her team - LaShonda - took over to put everything into action. LaShonda was such a joy to work with. She made me feel heard, understood, and supported - even when my parents were trying to push for their own choices! - and made sure my husband and I were happy with each and every decision. I had an easy time trusting her and her ideas. Our wedding day was flawless thanks to LaShonda’s diligence, creativity, and leadership. Everything from the ceremony rehearsal to our last dance and send off was perfectly executed and easy. Our entire wedding party raved about LaShonda and her incredibly helpful schedule — a HUGE bonus for this Type A/control freak bride. I knew LaShonda had everything covered - even things I never thought of - so I was able to fully relax in the days leading up to the wedding and on wedding day. The only thing I had to worry about was getting dressed!! My only complaint is that our business together has concluded — I will miss Kawania, LaShonda, and the entire H+W Events Team! I guess we’ll have to plan an anniversary party!! TLDR; Do not hesitate to hire this team. It will be the best and smartest decision you make.

Kawania and her team at Howerton + Wooten made my vision come to life for my wedding April 2022. The planning was thoughtful and very well executed. With her extraordinary creativity, Kawania absolutely elevated my ceremony. I can honestly say, without her expertise, my ceremony and reception would have not been as whimsical and romantic. Kawania and her phenomenal team took such amazing care of my Husband and I throughout our entire wedding planning process and beyond. Aside from being incredibly detailed, Kawania especially, quite literally kept us (primarily me - the bride lol) sane during what was a VERY stressful time due to ever-changing covid restrictions. Everyone on Kawania’s team, including herself, always encouraged optimism, handled planning obstacles with complete ease, and executed the most BEAUTIFUL wedding for us.

Speaking of beautiful…our wedding was truly STUNNING. Of the many things I love about Kay (as I affectionately call her), one attribute that really stands out is her ability to be immensely creative with out of the box thinking. Aside from the “standard” details most wedding have, Kay completely blew us away with the small touches (and some larger - like our photo wall escort card wall; personal favorite!). All of these factors really made our special day not only vibrant but also very unique and very much US!
