Standing since the early 1900s, it offers a charming, storied setting for your long-awaited occasion. From hosting jazz greats to elegant wedding celebrations, this hall has hosted a wide range of events of all sizes. This accommodating setting, filled with historic charm and modern convenience, is ready for you to host an event to remember.
Facilities and Capacity
Buchanan Hall was originally built in the 1920s by Brigadier General James A. Buchanan as a setting for his daughter’s wedding. Designed for elegant occasions, it still maintains that charm today. Many of the original fittings are still present, including the majestic hardwood flooring. With room for up to 225 guests, it offers a wealth of space and opportunity for you to make the most of us. Upon arriving at the property, you will be welcomed by the scenic views and historic gardens surrounding the hall. With scenic vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains, photo opportunities abound at this charming venue. Once inside, you and your guests will find an open, inviting space for your wedding celebration. A blank canvas, its minimalist design allows you to adorn this venue with your own personal touch of flair. Along with the hardwood flooring and finely designed furnishings, this space also offers a stage for your night's entertainment to enjoy. Additionally, two get-ready rooms are available for you and your partner to make use of as you freshen up for your big celebration. Your caterers can also make use of an on-site kitchen to serve up your wedding feast.

Rustic and Charming!
Montana, the point of contact we worked with, is an absolute gem. She gave us plenty of advice and support along the way, along with knowledge of the venue itself. I loved that this venue is a local non-profit and supports a farmers market and other local community events, including a pride celebration.
If you are interested in getting married here - GO VISIT. That will help make the choice for you since you will be able to see all the included amenities, such as getting ready suites. The beautiful mountain view is an added bonus. Thanks again for making our wedding amazing!

Montana, the event director was simply amazing. She was always available for communication, provide invaluable insight, and was super accommodating. not to mention, she does it all with a beautiful smile on her face!
In general, the entire process exceeded our expectations & we could not recommend this space enough. If you are looking for a venue for your wedding or another celebratory event in pristine Virginia countryside, historic Buchanan Hall will check all the boxes!

The Perfect Venue!
Our catering and day-of coordination was done by the hall’s in-house caterer My Sweet Thyme, who customized a menu for us and went above and beyond for us in every aspect. We are still getting compliments on the food 2 months later, and as the bride, I didn’t have to think about a single thing other than having a good time that day.
Another benefit of hosting at Buchanan Hall was the fact that we could visit the venue during their regular farmers markets to get a feel for the space and plan in person, which is not something you get to do at most venues. As a visual person, this was a huge perk for me especially. We were able to customize our floor plan, the color scheme and florals, and decide where the DJ and Photo Booth should go to maximize our use of the space.
The hall has a handful of vendors whom they work with regularly, including our DJ and florist, and they were just fabulous to work with too. The fact that Montana and her team have a working relationship with so many connections in the wedding industry honestly made the whole planning process so simple.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with our decision to get married at Buchanan Hall, and I think you would be too!
