Food was good but too spicy despite comments made during tasting. Difficulty getting tasting organized.

I had The Host cater my wedding ceremony and reception dinners and both were FANTASTIC! Everyone loved the food. It was all flavorful and there was more than enough for people to have seconds. I would reccoment The Host to anyone who wants a fabulous dinner.

The Host was a disaster to deal with from day one. From the manager forgetting about and not showing up to our menu tasting to not responding to emails to just plain messing up on the day of. The only reason any tars are given is that the food quality was adequate and is generally consistent. The service quality is another story. We made a few minor special requests. Because our general guest service was family style dinner, we asked the head table be preplated (a preference). The head table was served family style, and beyond that, with not enough food, and furthermore, 20 minutes into dinner service with COLD food. Second request: there was also an allergy of coriander (a common ingredient in Indian food) which my 86 year old grandmother suffers from. When the Host said they cannot make the entire party coriander free, we were flexible and asked that her table be coriander free, to which they seemingly agreed. The night of, though assured to me that there would be no coriander at her tavle, there was coriander in every dish on her table. At the end of the day, it was me running around, on my wedding day, trying to ensure everyone had the correct food and was kept happy and healthy.
Furhermore, throughout the night, the Host's chef, aware of my disappointment, continually sent out his staff to try and get myself and my new husband to come speak with him. On our wedding day! It was to the point that we felt annoyed and harrassed.

What irks me is that all the issues that occured at the wedding were issues brought up and stressed on a number of occasions throughout the planning process. I had heard of Host's inability to meet special requests from others who used them, and would not preferred to use them, had the venue not required it. It is quite disappointing, and in all honesty, a reflection in the value of customer satisfaction, that despite these numerous attempts to bring up these requests, the needs were not met.

At the end of the day, food is what people remember most about an event. Yes, the general service was adequate, but true quality of service would be shown through the compliance and follow through of special requests and there was none. We would expect The Host to treat it as if they were serving in their own restaurant. If we were in the restaurant and were served something we specifically requested not to have, this would be an issue. At the end of the day when we are buying dinner for 200 people, and being forced to pay a 15% gratuity without being satisfied with the quality of service, we expect top quality service. If I was at the restaurant or any restaurant for that matter, and I didn't get the service I requested and specifically stressed, there is no way I would leave a 15% tip.
