When did you start wedding planning?

How soon after the proposal did you start wedding planning? Did you dive right in once you got the bling? Did you wait a little while to just enjoy being engaged? Did you already have some ideas in your head (or on Pinterest)? When did you start wedding planning? Photo by The DV Image in New York,...

I started researching venues and what not right away. I am not getting married until 8/2020 and got engaged 8/2018. I started touring venues a month after I was engaged. I had my dress, venue, photographer, about 1.5-2 months after. My fiancé is finishing school so we are trying to space out deposits and what not!

I feel like a crazy person, but I’ve been planning my dream wedding since I was in high school, but just pinning cute ideas on a secret board. I’m technically not even engaged (we’ve said that we’re both ready but he hasn’t popped the question yet), and I’ve already looked into some venues and started thinking about budgets. I’m just an obsessive planner! So no one should feel bad about jumping into planning to early!

My FH and I had several conversations before the engagement even happened about what marriage meant to us and what were the pros and cons of getting married vs. being unmarried life partners. Eventually, the chats turned into what kind of wedding we would want. So, when the time came to get officially engaged, a lot of choices had already been worked out. Within the first month of our 15 month engagement, we had the both the ceremony and reception venues booked, as well as our photographer. We just wanted to get those booked and then have a more relaxed time planning the rest of the wedding.

I am actually wedding planning before the engagement. We know we are going to get married so why waist any time. Plus it helps cut down the stress going into it with an idea

It truly depends on how long you plan for your engagement to be. I knew I wanted to have a long engagement. We became engaged on March 5th, 2018. I knew I didn't want to be married that same year, as for me, personally, the engagement really makes the big day have so much more meaning. I did however begin pricing things right away. BUT, I JUST booked a venue this past weekend. I will now gradually buy things throughout the rest of year, being that my wedding is in November. One of my big concerns is mostly from a financial stand point. None of it really felt too real for me until we booked the venue!

I would say that I started planning right away. I mean after dating for 6 years I kinda already had some secret boards on pinterest and had an idea of what I would like haha but once I was actually asked I've been doing mainly research at this point to see how I can accomplish getting what I want while staying in budget and not losing sight of the meaning to this day, marrying my best friend. I set the date further away to give myself an ample amount of time to get things in order so that I dont get stress or overwhelmed because I really just want to enjoy this whole process. I've been engaged for less then a month and Ive already tried on some dresses and have contacted a few venues to get a clearer picture on my options Smiley smile

Got engaged on December. 22, 2018. Today is Feb 8, 2019. I already have a venue, dj, dress, photographer, colors picked out, cake picked out, centerpieces picked out... The only thing left really is to find a ceremony site.

The proposal was on January 29th, and we started planning on the 31st. Within the first month we had venue, DJ, catering, reception, rehearsal, florist, and suit vendor lined up. We wanted to get a good jump on things so we had less to worry about and could enjoy our summer.
