When did you start wedding planning?

How soon after the proposal did you start wedding planning? Did you dive right in once you got the bling? Did you wait a little while to just enjoy being engaged? Did you already have some ideas in your head (or on Pinterest)? When did you start wedding planning? Photo by The DV Image in New York,...

I’ve been engaged a little over 2 months now and but I have had a ton of things pinned on Pinterest before even getting engaged, only because my best friend is getting married June 22nd this year and I’ve been helping her. So when I seen things I liked I pinned something for myself, I honestly wasn’t expecting to be engaged now so I’m really just basking in the moment. We will probably start planning in the next month.

I started right away. Pricing venues, pricing places near home, looking decorations.

After the proposal, I was told we have 14months to plan. Me being the person I am started planning the next day on how I would imagine it would be like. So far I’m a month in and we have got the dress venue and deposits down. Got colors picked out and our main bridesmaids and grooms men. And I thought it would be a lot harder than it is. Just a few more things and we are set! Thanks to my fiancé and I for having great communication and making time for us, we will have the wedding we both want and deserve!

We began the day after, and had our venue booked 8 days after! We are planners though, and can’t sit still.

Just started YESTERDAY! We got engaged in August 2018. Really enjoyed our engagement year and now we are excited to start planning. Taking it slow was great and stress free. Now we are ready to go all in!

Definitely starting looking up ideas right away. We didn't have our first venue visit until almost a year later and booked our venue soon after that. We did a bunch of venue looks within one month. All else began literally right after we secured our space, on the car ride home :-) .

We started planning before he had officially proposed and booked a venue within a week of the proposal, now we've slowed down a bit on the mad rush to plan everything.

My fiancé proposed on January 5th and were in the first stages of plannings. I’m in the midst of my final year of my bachelors degree, so we are not heavily focused on wedding planning right now. I’m trying to secure a venue pretty soon because we are planning on September 2020 (prime wedding time as I’ve learned) and then hone in more once I graduate in May!

After he proposed I started somewhat planning about a month later. I've been going to venue open houses to get pricing information and I have attended a bridal expo to get even more information so far!

We got engaged Dec 23rd 2018 - we were on vacation with family so once it happened everyone had some ideas, etc.

Being engaged prob didn't set in for a week or so, but we started throwing ideas around within the week. We booked our Venue less than a month of being engaged - and our DJ this past week, photographer is almost secured. We are not getting married until Aug 1 2020 but have already had vendors tell me they are already booked for that day. So it's good to get the big things booked I think. Then enjoy the engagement.

Same as a few others here. i started getting pricing on everything right away. However, i did tell my fiance that i was going to wait 30 days before discussing anything. i wanted to enjoy the engagement without the wedding stress. lol. i secretly gathered some wedding venue options for the 30 days and presented the options to him after that. We booked the wedding venue about fairly quickly. 10/26/19 cant come soon enough! 😁 its crunch time!!

I started browsing venues online probably a couple weeks after because I really had no clue what was available in our area. We knew we had at least a year while he finished a masters degree but I scheduled a few tours of places that stuck out to us & kept it casual in that we had no expectations other than gathering ideas and the tours were spread out to keep from being overwhelming. After about a month we have found the place!

I started planning right away. I downloaded the wedding wire app the next day and started discussing points on the checklist with my future husband. Although I didn't seriously start researching venues and such until a week later

Got engaged June 1, 2018. Took a 2.5 month sebattical, looked at a couple venues in August before deciding on one venue; locked down Venue in August. Color scheme and set theme of wedding + reception has been selected: romantic and sophisticated. Opened up a joint savings account together, made a budget plan for the wedding and honeymoon expenses and have been setting goals as far as putting money into the wedding account each pay period. My matron of honor and maid of honor are handling bridal shower and bachelorette; I gave them location, theme, itinerary, dates, and my budget for those items if needed. Save the dates are ready to go out; and I already have my wedding day-of coordinator. I am meeting with florist and bridal shop for bridesmaids dresses this month. Future items in the second quarter of this year are: DJ, Honeymoon package, hotel, transportation, makeup, hair, wedding website, and invitation ideas. Wedding dress shopping will be done this summer once I have the large expenses out the way.
Mother miscellaneous items will be taken care this fall. The goal for us is to have everything taken Carr of monetary wise by Dec of this year so that we can coast the next three months. That’s the goal though!

We started the very next day. We have over 10 appointments to look at possible venues, we have went to 3 so far. I think we may have already found our venue though and we have our color scheme picked out!! We may also already have a caterer, DJ, photographer, and bartender picked out.
