What was your first wedding planning decision?

Shockingly it was our first dance song! He knew what he wanted us to dance to the night we were engaged!

My first decision was the venue. Not even a week after the engagement, I was looking at venues. I had to call my FH and ask him which day he wanted to get married LOL. We had not chosen the wedding date and I'm lucky the venue let me tour the space without knowing which day I wanted.

The theme!!!

We decided we wanted something fun and the theme would help us choose the venue. Over a bottle of wine, we brainstormed all kinds of ideas: Haunted Mansion, Game of Thrones, etc. We couldn’t make an entire DW weekend happen so we had a Pirate DW and a 50’s/60’s larger local reception. TWO parties. 👍

The venue! We started looking and searching online right away and as soon as we got back from our vacation FH proposed on, we called our top venues to meet and walkthrough!

We didn't have the exact date right off the bat but our first decision was what season we wanted to get married in and then what month!

Our invitations. We couldn’t decide on anything until we had our invites because that the first thing our guests will see so it was really important to me.

The first decision we made together was the venue. But the very first decision anything wedding was I got my dress. I had my dress before we had the venue or anything!

The first official, paying $$ for it decision we made was the venue.

Since we already knew we wanted a backyard wedding (his parents offered it the day after we got engaged) Plus we didn’t want a super big wedding. So we decided to create the guest list and see who we wanted to be there with us.

Our first decision was deciding on a destination wedding for just the two of us and a reception back home for family/friends. After we knew that we were able to pick a venue and a date!

Before getting engaged we agreed we would get married "back home" in Chicago. FH had decided on his groomsmen as well and wanted me to pick bridesmaids.

Our first official decision as a couple was choosing the venue which also set the date, food, alcohol, and basically budget!

The "theme" I've known I wanted a fall wedding. Then it was picking a date. Budget is still a scary subject lol. I think so far the guest list has been easiest
