What was the very first planning decision you made? Was it deciding on the budget? Finding the perfect venue? Creating the guest list? What was first? For more on planning basics, check out these discussions: What are your venue “must haves” ? and What are your wedding colors ?

So true, venues always go so fast! Are you having your ceremony and reception at the same venue?

It's a Maggie Sottero, and it needs some alteration, since it was probably a sample dress.

I think it's actually blush... A line, lace, with a corset back. Need to go over to my friend's house and try it on again!!!

Funny enough, budget. That was a big determining factor for pretty much everything from venue, guest count, invitations and so on.

That's awesome! I feel like having both the budget and date solidified really helps everything else come together! What kind of reception venue did you end up booking?

Our first decision was the month we wanted. Within the first week of being engaged (still away on vacation) we both agreed that September would be perfect. Not too hot, yet not too cold.

We booked our reception venue 3 days after getting engaged which determined our date.

The church was a few days later, then our reception band!

Our 1st decision was the location. Being fall in upstate NY we knew we needed to lock that down quick!

We started with the guest list because we wanted to know what size venue we really needed so that we could narrow down our options...then we booked the venue!

Surprisingly the bridesmaids dresses. The first few days after he proposed I was a whirlwind of skimming through everything wedding, and fell in love with a bridesmaid dress. From there we picked our colors (deep purple & silver).

Our song is “Die A Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett, and we’ll probably play with version with Tori Kelly but that’s still undecided ❤️

We decided on the songs we would use for the recessional, precessional, mother son dance, father daughter dance, the first dance, and the last song.

Also, we collectively decided no black eyed peas songs

My first wedding planning decision was the wedding party. I wanted a small wedding, since my FH had already had a huge one, with his first marriage. I have 2 best girl friends and I was having trouble deciding who to pick to be my 1 MOH/bridesmaid... as luck would have it my other girlfriend became an officiant, so I get to have the best of both worlds. 1 as my MOH and 1 as my officiant, both of them standing up there with me! Smiley heart
